NFT: NY Rangers - Kratskov

njurygiants : 10/12/2021 12:12 pm
Elliotte Friedman reports that the #Rangers have given Vitali Kravtsov permission to contact other clubs in seek of a trade. Kravtsov did not make the Opening Day roster.

Larry Brooks adds that Kravtsov has refused assignment to Wolf Pack and is expected to be suspended.

Sucks I really like the kid as a player and thought he finished strong last year and has a solid preseason.
Some kids take a lot longer than others to get the 'click'

I think this is one of the one's that will take a long time. Sad, he has talent. As Crash Davis said, million dollar talent, 10 cent head. He's 21.

To keep them from losing a player (WHO STINKS) on waivers.

Libor Hajek is fucking terrible and can't play his way off the roster no matter what he does. He's a goddamn 8D, at best.

The return from TB for McDonagh was terrible, just admit that Hajek blows and move the hell on, christ.
Kravtsov needed to put a stake in the ground
JonC : 10/12/2021 12:41 pm : link
so Drury would gladly put Gauthier or Hajek on waivers. Did it happen?
they knew that he wasn't likely to go to the AHL

he went back to Russia before. He showed a lot of promise last year. Now they may lose him to keep inferior players on the team.

This is bringing back bad Ho-Sang memories.. except it's a little worse for you guys as he he as a little more leverage with Russia and more willingness to be overseas due to that.

Was it a shocker that he didn't make the team? Haven't followed it all that much.

Yes. The Rangers traded Buchnevich partly to give ice time to guys like Kravtsov. And he was solid in the games last year.

Can't disagree with this assessment. How long will it take before they realize Gauthier is just another big body in the league who can skate but can't produce?

True, but let's face it, when we lucked into Kakko and Laf, the writing was on the wall for Krav after we had already locked up Kreider and Panarin long-term.

IDK, maybe they trade him for like Dylan Strome or Barrett Hayton.
....
BrettNYG10 : 10/12/2021 1:23 pm : link
I think you need three scoring lines now, not two. Kravtsov should be on the third line. Also, let Kravtsov/Laf/Kakko fight it out. There's no reason Kravtsov can't get time.

The "take duh body" dickheads up in the 400 level are going to love this team, then blame Panarin and Zibby when things go wrong.

Not if you believe the talk of Kreider playing on the third line and Goodrow shifting between the lines. Kravstov has shown more big boy play in 20 NHL games than Gauthier has in two seasons.
or Hajek

on the Rangers since the 1970s he was just called Gene Carr and Greg Polis back then. Big guy who can skate that you think would have to be a good NHL player but actually looked like Tarzan and played like Jane. I have no idea what they're thinking keeping him over Kratskov. But who knows who made that call, it could have been the owner for all e know. The Rangers were going nowhere without some bigger tougher players to supplement the first 2 lines and the first D pair. Whether they have chosen the right ones to add we'll see.

Gene Carr JFC. The Cat traded all their toughness for him and then didn;t play him at his best position. That trade may have cost them the Cup.

BUT, the wisecracks he brought out from the Big Whistle ALMOST made it worthwhile ;-).

"he couldn't put it in the ocean if he was standing on the pier" is a classic. after being traded to the Kings, he naturally scores against the Rangers, and Chadwick says "it's a bigger ocean" LOL. Those were the days.

The betting yesterday was that Kravtsov was sent to Hartford to facilitate Drury dealing Hajek, and if/once done, a roster spot would open for Kravstsov. It seems like it's gotten out of hand, like with Lias (who has been opening eyes). I think the two Ds are effing this up.

Even if that's the case, why keep a jag like Dryden Hunt over Kravtsov?

Jim the Rangers are going to fill the net tonight and most of the time they did. Of course Jim was Jim Gordon the radio announcer for the Giants Parcells glory years. TV was more forgiving for him. I think his most famous catch line was "shot on goal wide". I loved those Emile teams. The 1970s NHL was almost a different sport than the 2021 NHL. The size, the speed, the goalie equipment, the systems etc.

I can't believe 50 years later the Rangers again have a skilled team that's getting bullied. Deja Vu all over again.

Gordon was riot too. What a pair. "Don't blame the Rangers folks, the Scouts have been that good." LOL

The Cat era is still my favorite too.. They made me a die hard Ranger fan.

I read the same, so this news today is a little surprising. Maybe a stretch of the truth and Kravtsov's not onboard or just doesn't care at this point. I hoped he would leave them no choice but to put someone on waivers.
Drury is in over his head
Vanzetti : 10/12/2021 3:30 pm : link
You do not make a team tougher by adding a bunch of thugs with no talent.

You need your main players to have toughness. Especially the ones with size like Kreider or K’Andre. If your guys can’t do it, trade for guys who can

But you also need skilled players. Trading Buch for a nothing like Blais is just idiotic. And yes I know about the salary implications but it was just a horrible trade

And now he alienated Kratskov to keep the likes of Dryden Hunt. Unbelievable

Barry Trotz's scheme works with players who have toughness but can't score. If anything he plays too many of those guys. Because the Rangers got lucky with Kakko and Laf, I just don't see a space in the Top 6 for Kravtsov. The way the NHL is played today I think you could do fine with him as a 3rd liner as long as he is not surrounded by two goons with stone for hands, but he may not want to be in that shut down role.

For what its worth, maybe he is just a whiny bitch.

Chytil was sent down to start as well and he was called up mid-way. Same with Lindgrin as well.

Kratskov and Ben Simmons must have the same agent.

And Chances are Dryden Hunt would not have been claimed because he is a dime a dozen player

That is just pure incompetence.

Exactly. Even if your goal was to light a fire under Kravtsov's ass (Rangers reportedly don't like his offseason training program), this is tact you take when you already went through this with him last season? Remember, Drury was GM of the Wolfpack at the time.

Really bizarre strategy.
