when do we find out about Jones officially

upstatenyg : 10/12/2021 1:02 pm
along with everyone not likely to play this weekend.

The only official announcements I have heard were regarding Saquon out 2 - 4 weeks, and Galliday likely not playing this Sunday for kneee.

It's been strangely quiet

Agreed. Concussions and their symptoms can change on a whim, but still. Strangely dark.
You wont know until friday
nygiants16 : 10/12/2021 1:04 pm : link
but if he is not on the field Wednesday then he will most likely not clear protocol in time..

Jf he is outside there is a chance
The concussion protocol doesn't adhere to a schedule
Ten Ton Hammer : 10/12/2021 1:04 pm : link
Probably won't hear anything until he's cleared. It's highly dependent on how he feels on a day to day basis and every body is different.
I think the minimum

eval is about three days, IIRC. Earliest Thursday???
No way

There is no way to know that..

The fact he was talking to his parents at rhe end of the game and then flew home was a good sign but with concussions you never know, he could be fine all week and wake up sunday morning with headaches
Right now they are doing focus testing...
sb from NYT Forum : 10/12/2021 1:16 pm : link
...to see how much flak they will get if they start Jones this Sunday.
It is totally out of the coaches hands
Lines of Scrimmage : 10/12/2021 1:16 pm : link
I am not sure how they do the protocol but I definitely don't see him playing Sunday.

We also do not know what impact it is going to have on Jones long term and not just from a medical standpoint.

I know the coaching staff says him running is part of the plan. As I have said before he is not a running QB. He is a QB who can run in certain situations but does not have the instincts nor body type of a runner. He got hurt last year running as well.
It can be one week
BigBlueJ : 10/12/2021 1:17 pm : link
it can be the whole year. Severity is based on a set of tests that he must past.

What are the five steps of concussion protocol?
NFL concussion protocol, explained
Step 1: Symptom Limited Activity. ...
Step 2: Aerobic Exercise. ...
Step 3: Football Specific Exercise. ...
Step 4: Club-Based Non-Contact Training Drills. ...
Step 5: Full Football Activity/Clearance.

He pulled his hamstring, he could of hurt his hamstring dropping back to pass
I have a hunch
moaltch : 10/12/2021 1:27 pm : link
he passes all the protocols and he plays Sunday. He was reading on the plane ride home. In cases of anything more than mild concussions, you generally cant do that.

he lowered his shoulder/head took on contact like a RB would. That is when the injury occurred.

I may be wrong but I believe the previous comment was about his injury last year running- which was a hamstring.

My comment eas about getting hurt last year
someone said on another thread...
BillKo : 10/12/2021 1:36 pm : link
...I might be tempted to have him sit this week depending on actually is playing.

Even beyond that, a week off would probably do him good. Doesn't need another helmet to helmet contact, which isn't farfetched considering the Rams can bring it.

Watch the play from last year. That is what I described. The injury again on Sunday was from taking on contact. The issue with the play was he had no out as they did not have a run/pass option so he had no choice other than slide and lose yardage.

Not only is everyone different but every concussion even in the same person is different.

For example, last year Shepard was out a week with his first concussion, then got dinged a few weeks later and missed, what 5 games? You never know.
If he passes the protocol
CMicks3110 : 10/12/2021 1:51 pm : link
i'd still have him as the backup this week. Not a lot of time to prepare mentally for the Rams if he's focused on recovery.
Sit him
TommyWiseau : 10/12/2021 2:39 pm : link
This week
Sorry, that didn’t look like any minor concussion
Dave on the UWS : 10/12/2021 2:48 pm : link
to me. Concussions have ended careers. Jones is at GREAT risk of another one if they play him too soon, not too mention all of Judge’s crap about protecting players will be just that- crap. Once he passes protocols, he should still sit to be extra cautious. Just my opinion.
Agree with you Dave, he was staggering and CARTED off
Dinger : 10/12/2021 2:56 pm : link
I don't want him back for at least two weeks. Don't mess with concussions. I love the guy and I know he's pretty much the only one on the team who can get us a W. I don't hold out hope for his speedy return OR for Glennon's seamless takeover. With the defense playing like shit we are in for a rough autumn.
I'd
AcidTest : 10/12/2021 3:08 pm : link
sit him for several weeks.
Bridewater was back for the next game
stoneman : 10/12/2021 3:18 pm : link
Taken out of the game for concussion the previous week and started last week after passing protocol on Friday. Depends on severity of the concussion - all assumptions are just that - bogus.

With him stumbling back to the sidelines, it doesn't look though.
I thought they said on Sunday
Beer Man : 10/12/2021 3:25 pm : link
That he would be evaluated again on Wednesday to make a determination.

Is this a serious comment?

You recommend the team sits Jones for "several weeks" based on what exactly... your layman diagnois from you living room sofa?
The truth is
csh2z : 10/12/2021 3:50 pm : link
none of us know the severity of his concussion or even if it is a concussion. It probably is, and did look bad. But none of us know the facts, so speculation based on opinion is useless. We can only hope, whenever he returns, he is fully recovered.
It depends who’s on the Oline this week
Simms11 : 10/12/2021 5:09 pm : link
if I’d play him or not. That D is no joke and Donald will have a field day, as well as Floyd, feasting on Jones. I’d personally let him rest, sit out and regroup.
Being knocked out and severe concussion are not always
larryflower37 : 10/12/2021 6:09 pm : link
Together.
He could have been knocked out without a serious concussion.

If he's medically cleared to play you would sit him? LOL seriously? This isn't how it works bruh
I don't recall in the past seeing a player carted off for a concussion
JOrthman : 10/12/2021 11:16 pm : link
but admittedly I could of missed it. In the past we usually just see them walk to the sideline and hear they aren't coming back.
