NFT: Officiating a wedding / get ordained to marry someone in NJ

NYGmen58 : 10/14/2021 8:00 pm
I have been asked to officiate the wedding ceremony of a close family member next year, which is the highest honor. They both live in NY but the wedding is in NJ and they want this to be the "official" ceremony (i.e. not go to the courthouse to get their marriage license beforehand).

Since I am not a man of the cloth, I will need to get ordained in order to actually marry them and follow the proper steps for the State of New Jersey.

Can anyone advise how I go about doing so? Is this a complicated process? I don't live in NJ, so I am hoping this can all be done online with maybe a phone call to the county clerks office where the wedding will take place?

Any guidance or assistance would be much appreciated.

For our upcoming wedding. We’re getting married in NY and he just got a legit certificate online. Anyone can do it I guess.
