NFT: JR Smith is now playing college golf

Mad Mike : 10/15/2021 12:23 pm
He enrolled in NC A& T, and after petitioning the NCAA was granted eligibility, since having never gone to college before, his clock had never started. His first tournament wasn't a roaring start - he shot 29 over across three rounds, finishing 81st out of 84 entrants, and got stung by hornets for good measure.

is a whole other animal than what he's used to.
I think you could do a lot worse in life

then going from high school to the NBA, having a respectable NBA career and then deciding to go to college and becoming a walk-on golf player.

BTW, wonder what clubs the North Carolina A&T team use compared to the average college player? and if they've been upgraded recently?
It would have been interesting

if JR had wanted to play college basketball instead. He wouldn't be the oldest player ever on a college basketball team, either!

That distinction goes to Ken Mink, who holds the record as the oldest player ever to score in an NCAA Basketball team (Roane State Community College,Harriman Tennessee; the game vs. King College on November 3, 2008.) He was 73 years old!!!
Now that I think about it

The NCAA probably has some rule against former professional players playing their sport in College. I think that was an issue back in the early part of the 1900's, where College football teams would "recruit" semi pro players for their team.

Yes, I think once you turn pro in a sport you lose your college eligibility in that sport forever.
I think JR
