Name is Luka Samanic
2019: 19th pick of Spurs (they just released him). I know the initial reaction is why would they of all teams (prior success with foreign players and a roster full of kids) release a recent 1st rounder? That's a valid question.
Size: 6'10" 230
Athleticism: I'm not saying he's Zion, but he is a top drawer athlete. Larry Nance Jr. is a reasonable athletic comp.
Prior success: highly regarded player growing up in Croatia. Very strong showing in 2019-2020 G League season.
Shooting: Form is fine; results to this point are mediocre.
Role with NYK: will sign a 2 way contract.
the talent seems to be there

Without Rose we probably finish the first in single digits.
Is Breen doing the regular season?
Also i cant with tunnel vision Rj

Any chance he’s working on something? Or just looking bad? I’m just arriving to the game mself.

Its not that he looks bad, he just has trouble when he drives finding the open guy and then he forces the shot
I like Iq and when he is hot he is fun, but man does he take bad shots
He’s the only one who slowed that Neto dude down at all tonight - I’m sure Thibs took notice.
Kemba and him are going to be such a great 1-2 punch..
Its going to take a little bit for Kemba and Fournier to get used to playing with Randle but you see glimpses of it, Kemba had some moves where he looked like prime Kemba..
Fournier in the 2nd half you could see what he brings, off the dribble 3, pull jumper, then drives find guy in corner
Agreed. We were missing Bullock a bit. Grimes looks like he could be his replacement.
Especially with this team. So many guys to root for.
Yep. As we discussed earlier. He was name dropping him left and right in his presser.
All of this usually adds up to a very good team.
I’m scared to show or feel any optimism for my teams but it’s hard not to feel really good about the Knicks. There a pretty safe bet right now, I’d think.
4. Randle-Obi-J. Sims
3. RJ-Burks-Fournier
2. Fournier-IQ-Burks-Grimes
1. Kemba-Rose-Deuce-Burks
Something like this for a depth chart - 14 players deep at 5 positions. I think Thibs likes all three rookies and they won't rot on the bench. Burks will be the Swiss Army Knife. Obi will have a larger role.

What a beautiful thing. We can be confident we will enjoy high quality basketball all year, even though we might not contend for a championship. When's the last time we could say that going into a season? 2011-2012 range?
2. Obi made so many defensive plays tonight. His confidence on D is night and day from last year. I just wish the Knicks had an offense for him to open up his game there. I love this kid.
3. Rose is crucial for this team. Our starting lineup looked like last year to start the game. When Rose came in that slowly started to change.
4. I'm a big Barrett fan. His 3 ball and D keep getting better. What I don't get is how ineffective he is when driving. He's strong enough to do it but needs to learn how to use his body to get separation.
5. IQ continues to disappoint. I don't know if people are aware but look at his shooting percentage last year and this year. It's bad. I know we've been programmed to say he can shoot but can he? We've seen hot streaks but overall he's not good. It's worrisome. His shot selection has actually gotten better but his shot looks so bad right now. It's so flat. He's going to lose playing time if this continues.
6. Mitch was up and down but for his first game back he made a lot of plays and was very active. He made a ton of plays on the perimeter. We will desperately need him this year.
7. This goes along with Mitch but the biggest concern I have this year is being a tough team. I know some will say I am crazy with that outlook because this is a Thibs coached team but hear me out. This team is completely transformed. We are shooting threes like this franchise has never seen before. We saw what happened this game. We couldn't score in the paint to break the slump. On the other end, we've given up wah too many points in the paint. I understand that Mitch and Noel haven't really played but that is a concern I have for this team, the ability to score and defend in the paint. Maybe I still have PTSD of Young running the pick and roll against us in the playoffs. Mitch staying healthy is key.
8. Love how much Grimes played. Loved the D. Loved his ability to not hesitate when he had the ball. He had a huge three during that late run.
9. Also loved Randle and Obi playing together at the 4 and 5 down the stretch. I think that was important and after the results it should give him confidence in running them out there together during the season.
10. Taj looked like he wanted the night off after he got in foul trouble. He's too smart of a player to be committing the fouls he did when he was in foul trouble.
Knock on wood a full year of Noel and Robinson will provide that.
Also the pick and roll with Mitch something we did not have a all last year will be a big upgrade for this offense.
Rose is important but I think once Kamba and Fournier get comfortable with the offense and the team it will not look as lethargic as it has the first 4 games.
IQ shooting % has been bad especially on the floaters which he hits at least than 40% which is supposed to be his go to.
Grimes is going to defend himself in to minutes and knock down some big shots.
I am excited about this season and think the over /under of wins of 41.5 is a joke

It's too early to be looking for reasons to doubt. We have 1 full season of real games to evaluate IQ's shooting. I'm not doing this after summer league a d 4 preseason games.
The defensive philosophy is to funnel the action into the paint and Noel and Mitch haven't played. It won't look the same.
If healthy and back to form he could be a better defender than Noah.

5 is not something that is based solely on the preseason. It is based off last year and summer league as well.
As far as 7 goes, this is what I can see being their weakness this year. That's all I am saying. There is so much to like about this team right now but if we start losing the toughness in the paint on both end of the floor might be the reason.

He was a little up and down but that is to be expected in his first game back. There was way more good tham bad. He was causing problems for Washington on the perimeter. He was very active defensively and caused a couple of turnovers. In his post game presser he said last year he got pushed around too much and got tired of it hence the weight gain. Offensively, there were some dunks that were nice but some other plays where he was not so good. Also, his vertical seems like it is 1 foot. He wasn't getting much lift. There was one play where he should have had an alley oop dunk and had to just lay it in.
Agreed. He had one summer league game where he was brutal. The others were just eh but that is also because he was playing a new position.
My concern with him is a guy who is known for his shooting is and has not shot well. I'm not talking about like slightly bad. I'm talking about really bad. I thought originally that it was because of his bad shot selection. He seemed to have cleaned that up lately. He doesn't seem to be forcing shots. But his shot is still off. I think Clyde made a reference to it last night that he is line driving shots and not getting enough arc on it. It's frustrating because we know how streaky he can be but we haven't seen enough of the good streaks.
