And I’m not sure your assessment of the LB matchups is correct, but it’s an interesting viewpoint. I’m not sure we can cover Lincoln if he lines up at TE. I know we can’t block Hen blitzed in an interior gap in a stunt with Donald. So…yeah.
Rooting for the Giants is like the five stages of grief. The last stage is acceptance. I have accepted that the Giants suck, and will likely continue to do so at least through 2022.
The Giants have no national appeal. Unless they are playing a winning team with national appeal like the Cowboys, Giants games are only broadcast in the New York area and the area of the team they are playing. Nobody understandably wants to watch an out of market team that has stunk for years. Many in market Giants fans don't want to watch them either.
couldn't have stated it any better....I've been asking myself lately why I just don't enjoy watching the Giants play anymore, and you hit the nail on the head....the hopelessness IS palpable and it already feels like 1-9....when I was a kid there was Brad van Pelt or Bob Tucker to cheer for even during the down times, but now? find new ways to lose is all there is....last night my wife and I watched Bucs/Eagles and in addition to me enjoying the Eagles losing, I said to the Mrs "it's a pleasure to watch an offense (Bucs) that has talent and knows how to use it"
And I’m not sure your assessment of the LB matchups is correct, but it’s an interesting viewpoint. I’m not sure we can cover Lincoln if he lines up at TE. I know we can’t block Hen blitzed in an interior gap in a stunt with Donald. So…yeah.
Am I missing something? All I see is the quote at top, the injury report and "The Final Word".

Think is was a joke.
As a GIANTS fan for over 65 years, I don't care anymore.
This shit just isn’t fun anymore. You look forward to it from the spring only to have it ruined for you before the leaves even change color here (in lower Westchester)…year after year after fucking year…

You are correct sir. Always a good sign when someone needs to point them out…
I have been a fan since the 70s. I have disposable income and time. I am still a fan, but it will never be the same again. No matter platitudes or cliches.
After that, the remaining games don't matter. There shouldn't be any "Hey we finished 3-4 and showed improvement. We can carry that over..."
That has been a big point of discussion each offseason for years, and it's been ridiculous every time.
I understand the season isn't over for the players and coaches...every game is a resume. But for fans hoping for something good to come out of this year, the season is already over.
It's must reading for ownership and the FO and coaches alike. Mara

I'm just going to admit to my stupidity there, I didn't even really read the TE name he put there until after then connected the dots...
Because they did a year ago. And the offense was starting to come around before the injuries. They were going to need a lot of things to go right ti make the playoffs from the start. Maybe it’s better that they got that out of the way early so we can focus on what’s most important for a team where they are and that’s growth. So I’ll be watching. They aren’t as far away as this board would have you think. They’re just not as good as some on here thought going in.

Yep, last I heard the season was 17 games. I’ll be rooting and watching. Don’t have high expectations, but there are reasons to watch - DJ, Toney, Thomas, Ojulari. The OL has held up surprisingly well. I don’t think the defense is this bad. Y’all can throw in the towel, but I’m hanging in there.
It was stickied for as long as most of us will watch the game. The Rams will run right through effortless arm tackles, our offense will suck in every way and we'll be cooked midway through the first quarter. Judge is losing the team, most fans have bailed, it's more morbid curiosity and dangerous habit at this point. I'm ashamed of this franchise, utterly ashamed.
eloquently. The fan base is gone. We are a pimple on the NFLs backside. I’m 73 and know I will never see a championship again. Maybe a team with a winning record. Very, very, sad
Is John Mara even aware of this? Has any beat reporter asked Mara about this during a press conference? How do you expect your fanbase to be engaged when the season is repeatedly over by October?

I work and live overseas. I used to watch games religiously online using a live stream at odd hours, but now? I don't even bother. I'm considering cancelling my NFL.com GamePass subscription too. There are indeed better ways to enjoy a Sunday.

Wellington Mara even remarked in the 1980’s that one of the biggest mistakes he made during the 1960’s and 1970’s was misjudging the loyalty of Giants fans, and had he known better, he would have not attempted the “quick fix” as much as he did and build the team through the draft instead.
The Giants have never committed to a true rebuild.
2016: quick fix, buy a defense
2018: quick fix, keep Eli & draft Saquon. Hire old, familiar GM.
2021: quick fix, spend a ton of money in FA
There has never been a commitment to a rebuild. As Terps often says, the rebuild hasn’t even begun. They’ve never done a rebuild.
Lets burn it down at the end of the season and start over. Then at least everyone will feel better. Then in 2 years they can do it again when that regime does not deliver instant results. Through his first 21 games in New England, BB was 7-14 and the fans were not happy; especially with some 6th round QB now their starter. I’m not saying JJ will become BB, but when he was hired, he acknowledged this would not be a quick fix. Apparently 21 games in is all it takes for all the geniuses to determine its a failure and time to blow it up yet again. Imagine if Robert Kraft had done the same. Afterall, it was clear that BB was nothing without BP. I hate the way this season has gone thus far and expected much more, BUT, I also resigned myself 2 years ago to be prepared for bad football while this mess gets cleaned up. And here we are.

I want Judge retained, but I want front office changes.

They keep fucking up the rebuild by focusing on paint and curtains and not shoring up the foundation of the team. What does this team look like with another good tackle, guard and pass rushing LB? They will rightly move on from Gettleman...and IF the new GM sorts out the OL and adds a pass rusher we might actually field a decent team.

I'm with you Gary. Criticizm and disappointment are warranted, but so many "fans" have decided not to watch? Ok. I'll enjoy the games with my family just Like Ive done since 1961. Winning is obviously much better than losing, but I'l watch, win or lose.
Little Bill cut his teeth and learned his head coaching mistakes in Cleveland. He was roughly the same age as Judge when he got that gig, and he had a very average tenure.
He won a championship in year two in New England at age 49. He had one losing season, and then put together arguably the greatest streak in the history of the NFL. No patience required.
If anything the New England example shows we might be the Browns in this analogy.

Anything short of going 3-14, I’m giving Judge another year. I acknowledge he needs to show some promise the rest of the season, but I’m still buying Joe Judge stock.
I’ll say this, if the Giants do move on - give me someone like Joe Brady who is a young innovative mind. I have a major concern that Mara would go the Mike Zimmer or Doug Pederson route which I would hate.
Much better.

Curious to see the ways they’ll use Toney. Hopefully we’ll see a little less Booker and some more of Penny or Brightwell.
Pat Graham was also very animated this week. Can the defense step up at hone against a solid opponent?

Agreed
Great quote by Lincoln, btw. First time I’ve read it.

6 full months of preparation, readiness and anticipation.
For what?

I wish the Giants had better, more experienced people in the building to mentor him.
Instead we have an owner throwing temper tantrums and the class clown at GM.
