I don't get this signing, I mean if he is healthy and returns to form it's a steal but just seems to take a spot and minutes from the kids Twitter - ( New Window )
I don't think the kids were ever really going to play.
That is until I saw Grimes get some serious minutes last night. I agree that I would love to see guys like Grimes and McBride play but this FO has also done an amazing job of putting this roster together. They deserve the benefit of the doubt.
soon-to-be 30 journeyman who has bounced around in the NBA, although he has certainly had some decent years in the past. But he's also had a major injury since then If he's wiling to play in the G-League and be insurance for an injury to Kemba or Rose, that's fine. Otherwise, I don't see it.
I suppose it's possible that McBride is heading to the G League soon and management doesn't seem IQ as ready for prime time at PG, such that Knight will be a 15th man type just in case.
Knight, 29, was the eighth overall pick in the 2011 draft and has appeared in 446 regular season games, averaging 14.1 PPG and 4.0 APG in 29.5 minutes per contest over the course of his NBA career. However, he hasn’t played for an NBA team since the 2019/20 season, pre-bubble. He saw action in 25 games for the Cavaliers and Pistons that year, posting 7.3 PPG and 2.8 APG in 18.5 MPG.
While we don’t know exactly what the Knicks’ plan is, most signings this week have been for G League purposes, so it’s possible the veteran will be waived shortly and will report to the Westchester Knicks, New York’s NBAGL affiliate.
Technically, the Knicks are only carrying 14 players on guaranteed contracts, leaving the 15th spot on their regular season roster up for grabs. However, it’d be a surprise if club handed that spot to a player signed this late in the preseason.
He showed he can still play during the Summer League for the Nets,so playing in the G league let's him showcase his talents for the Knicks or any other team with PG needs!

He was horrible in summer league, he has very little left at this point and was probably a favor for him just to get to G-league.
"He shot less than 30% from the field and less than 20% from three-point range in four Summer League games"

You're right,in terms of stats. However,I read numerous articles that said he was showing flashes of his old self & was finding himself during that time. I didn't watch him,so if you did,you know more than I. But,the fact that Leon signed him to keep him at Westchester(Connecticut) this year, tells me they think he still has something!
The Knicks don’t need him as their PG ranks go pretty deep, Walker, Rose, Quickly, Duce, sometimes Grimes, Burks

Grimes is not handling the point imo

@FredKatz
The Knicks have waived Brandon Goodwin, Brandon Knight, Aamir Sims and MJ Walker, sources tell @TheAthleticNBA.
And Wayne Selden Jr. survives!

What does this mean? Does this mean we have no association with these players now or that they will be going to the G-League?

Oh, the previous post basically answers my question.

there was speculation that he'd be the survivor - guess that was correct
I'm ready for this season to begin. I got NBA League Pass this afternoon. LFG!
