God, I would have loved to be in that room!

Q: What was one Coughlin speech from that season?

A: Gotta go with the Super Bowl, right before the Super Bowl, he gave an incredible speech. You could feel that it came from his heart. It was one of those things where it really just motivates us, you could tell it motivates us to play for him and to win this game and to continue to fulfill all of our legacies, including his. … He told us he loved us at the end, that like he wouldn’t trade us in for the world kind of thing.

"And I'm man enough, man enough to say that I love you". Something of the sort.
Great interview!

Thanks.
I think that is the piece missing from Joe Judge so far.

It's not enough to be organized, have great schemes, be a great teacher. You have to stir players' emotions, make them want to give their all and play with fire. I think we've seen the Giants play with commitment but they don't seem fiery to me. Sometimes emotion and intensity are in conflict with discipline. I think the Giants have put so much emphasis on discipline that the fire is sometimes tamped down.

And, to be fair, TC had issues with that most of the time, both before and after that night. He often alienated his players.

Yes, I recall that as well.
The biggest problem the current Giants have is lack of talent

Not "motivation".
