Kudos to Those Giants Fans Who Are Still Carrying the Torch!

gidiefor : Mod : 10/17/2021 10:33 am
I've been following 18E as he preps and goes to Giants games for a long time. It's an incredible event he puts on for every game whether home or away and he's at it with zest. I admire a guy who can express his staunch fanhood in such a visible and steady way. Rain or Shine, Win or Lose - 18E is out there carrying the torch! Kudos to you Brother.

Here's to all Giants Fans like 18E who Bleed Blue Through and Through!

Go Giants!

and taking the rose colored glasses off and seeing reality, are NOT mutually exclusive. I still walk around the city with my Giants gear on, but knowing things won't get better until the twin dopes (Chris and John) get the hell out of the way, is disheartening at best.
Dave -- if you are taking this a personal criticism then

I feel bad for you.

Frenchie is still doing it with enthusiasm. He prepared for the game all week. He has a "to beat the enemy you must eat the enemy theme for every game." He prepared and marinate steaks for today's game. He's already out there at the lot. He arrived at 8am and unpacked a huge battle station. He uses his own resources to to do it. He brings out his entourage. This guys has Indomable Giants Spirit.

I used to look to Hope as the Beacon. She's in Heaven now. Frenchie is my new Hope!

care about the team when they are down and cannot completely tune out! can also be critical. they can also look for progress without wanting to burn the whole thing down.
I made it through the '70s with the Giants

and I'm not quitting them now. It's like Brokeback Mountain, I just can't quite them! There will come a time when the Giants are a good team again, and I want to be there cheering when they do.

That said, I do believe this team has talent, and even if there are wholesale changes after the season, I think they're poised for a resurgence at some point. The one thing I can't figure out is why the defense has been so inconsistent. I don't understand it but I hope every day they figure it out...

win or lose. I’ve lost that anticipation I used to feel on Sunday mornings (more like a thud of dejection), but I’ve loved being a Giants fan. Over the long haul, the team has been good to me.

i mean this is nothing like the 20 plus year wait to win a division in 86 or the 18 year playoff drought! so too much bellyaching from Giants fans.
We were well prepared for the last 10 years

Always can find something or someone to root for.

Guess what - the Knicks are relevant again, and fun to watch. Why not the Giants? I’m in it for the long haul.

We won 4 super bowls in our life times, let's have some perspective here. Some of the top teams we cream about today in the NFL were perennial losers who finally have turned the corner after decades of mediocrity. We are just going to have to endure this until our time comes around again. Look for the positives were you can and be patient with the rest. There are teams (Bills, Cleveland) still looking for their FIRST championship.
Good point. There are 12 nfl teams who haven't won a Super Bowl

There is no joy with out pain. Times are tough but this is a proud franchise. 4 fucking Super Bowls.

We’re not as far off as the majority thinks.

Let’s go!
I look forward to the Giants playing every single week...

One of the most puzzling things about this site, are fans who take the time to come here to tell us they don’t care anymore.

I don’t judge them, but I d be lying if I didn’t say,” I can’t relate to it. “

Being a fan is about the thrill of victory and agony of defeat (hahaha) , it s fun, it s exciting, it s disappointing it s frustrating.

It s a big part of our families sport s entertainment, been a family tradition for over 60 years, love it.

Not saying those who lose interest during the losing are “front runners” but certainly they lack the same passion those of us who who stay the course during the losing do.
I will watch obviously.

But more out of habit. The product is absolute garbage & has been for years. Hell, I am not even asking for a Super Bowl. I am looking to be in contention/in the mix when Halloween rolls around.

I think opposite. When I was growign up watchign football I can recall chants of

"!5 years of lousy Football, we've had enough!"

And the chants of
"We want Madden!"

I look up to that. I felt for a few years that overall too many don't.
t care as much if they lose but instead just want to cheer.

That's not a football fan I admire. It's not a sports fan I admire.

And I think those type of fans give guys like Mara and the Knicks owner, Dolan, a sense that what they are doing is okay.

What was Mara's most recent comment? That he thinks fans will START to lose faith/credibility in the team? And we're supposed to cheer that type of incompetence? Nah.

The complaining on here or nay site is harmless anyway. But it deserves to continue.
I have become
dabru : 10/17/2021 2:57 pm : link
a fair weather fan. I use to be a diehard; didn’t miss a game on tv from my early teens until my early 50’s. At some point I realized I was expending too much personal capital into a team I had no influence on which was playing a game that had been changing for the worse.

So now I follow along and try to be optimistic in the off-season but as soon as the season begins to turn sour my interest in the team fades fast. My interest in the NFL in general is very low ever since I stopped playing fantasy football over a decade ago.

Today, the game wasn’t on in my area so I decided to go to few stores. I returned just before half time, checked the score and was relieved that I made the best choice today.
