Season's shot.
Two main questions:
One: Should we kick the can down the road and add a first for 2023? Jones isn't going anywhere next year. If we need to replace him, we'd need future picks. We have two firsts. That two shots to trade down for a future first. The trade might not be there. But it might. If it is, I say go for it.
Two: What is the most important position to address in the first two rounds? Outside of edge and OL, I'd put DL and ILB as up there too. I'd love to add another solid DL to replace Tomlinson in the second and a real quality edge rusher in the first. What positions do you fancy?
2) Biggest needs: RB, TE, LG, C, RG, RT, ILB, EDGE
And I'm being generous. I hope Isaiah Wilson can seize one of those O-Line spots.
Save that for another thread.
Must surround Jones with talent so we can judge him properly and see if we have something in him by the end of his rookie deal

You lost me at RB...

Uh, no. Neither of the 1st round picks should be a RB

I hope that was a joke about Barkley Hernandez...

I think he was being facetious.
As many old timers have said, this is worse than the 1970s.
You obviously haven't seen how our defense is playing.

I've seen our OL for the past decade and this looks to be a good looking draft for OLs.
And I'm pretty bullish on Malik Willis.
There’s going to be some serious projecting in evaluating him - and a lot of risk.

Fair questions. I'm not sure about reading the field.
But I love his athleticism and his arm.
I cede there is risk...

BTW, I'm not opposed to going two OLs in the first round.
And maybe hunting a stop-gap QB solution in free agency.
And Willis threw 3 INTs vs Louisiana Monroe yesterday, btw. I’m skeptical.

Saw that box score. He did run for 160 and 2 TDs. But those INTs looks bad. Need to look at the game.
IF there's a top prospect on the board, but only a medium trade offer, take the prospect. IF the opposite is true, as it was this year, go for the trade. Do NOT give away value just to accumulate future draft capital.
It is NEVER BPA vs need, but rather a blend. That said, I think we need a pass rusher more than OL, although both are drastic needs.
missing on Hernandez hurt. Hope Peart turns out better.
This team is built the wrong way currently.
They spent (money and resources) on secondary and skill players
We were promised both lines would be fixed.
Neither is in the top 2/3 of the league currently.
This defense can't stop anyone.
Seems like no priority is given to putting him in the best position to be successful. If not the sharpest knife, might need to concentrate on one position, his apparent best position which I assume is RT.
Solder is a swinging door anyway, so let him be the swing tackle.

Agreed. Still can’t understand about how the Giants fell from Accorsi’s assessment about edge: You can never have too many pass rushers.
That's true.
Will they let him out of prison on weekends to play QB?
If they suck ass again, you dump everyone you can before the trade deadline to accumulate picks for 23 to move up for the QB. Hopefully Barkley shows enough to garner interest.
The GM and coordinators need to be dumped at the end of 21. Judge and Jones on the hot seat in 22.

I'm on board with what you're saying. I did a simulation on profootballnetwork. Here is what I told someone on another thread when asked:
=========================================
Hutchinson-23rd pick-Edge, Devin Lloyd 38-ILB/OLB, Ed Ingram-42-OG, Adam Anderson-54-Edge/OLB, Darian Kinard-67-OT, Nik Bonitto-69-Edge/OLB, Alec Lindstrom-73-C, CJ Verdell-79-RB, Brandon Smith-85-Jaquan Brisker-121-S, Charlie Kolar-145-TE, 154-Phildarian Mathis-Dt, and DJ Dale-186-DT.
===========================
These are extreme trade-downs ofc and some of the players won't be there/near to where - but basically, regardless of names, went after many Edges/OLB types and one ILB. And two DT's and went after 3 OL. And with all the Edges/OLB's you can go to 4-3 if you want.

Well, since I was the guy who asked, it definitely looks like a pretty good haul of a little bit of everything from edge rushers (which have been neglected under this roster), to OL, inside and outside linebackers, tight ends, running backs, and even safeties. Definitely a lot more daring than I’ve been with trades.
Although anybody looking to replace Jones would be sadly disappointed ;).
