I do yell at the television, which is dumb. That I admit.
But booing after you've already paid to the support the product just doesn't make sense to me. If you want to make a statement, just stop supporting the product.
What does one accomplish by just yelling out the word boo????
"I don't think anyone deserves to be put down no matter who you are," Williams said. "I'm not going to go up to a salesman and tell him he's not a good person or boo this person because he's not doing his job or something like that."
In the real world when you suck at your job you get fired with no large signing bonus to fall back on. I'm sure people would rather be boo'd than fired on the spot.
Your choice Leonard, take the boos with the contract, or give it all back, you get paid $50k/year and we guarantee you never get boo'd.

They may boo sometimes, but when Williams makes a play, they cheer. If he wants less booing, make more plays

These guys don't understand that they're entertainers. They think the fans are there for their benefit, not vice versa.
He’s been in the NYC area his entire career on bad teams. He was a free agent and could have signed anywhere that would have him. He could have tried to go somewhere and win.
Instead he squeezed every nickel from the bumbling owners who allowed their incompetent GM to trade two picks for him at 2-6 during his walk year. In order not to lose face those same bumbling incompetents paid him about double or more than the money he would have made if the Jets didn’t trade him.
He’s a good player paid like a superstar which I guess we should be grateful for, he could be Solder. The poor guy doesn’t like to be boo’d. Guess what you can boo me all you want for 45M over three years Leonard.
Would he complain about people posting negative reviews of the food if it sucked? Or would he expect people to pretend it was good when it wasn’t so nobody’s feelings got hurt?
Players should really learn to shut up about this shit.
I personally don't boo my team. I never liked it back when they booed Phil Simms. He at the time seemed like a tough QB that was giving it his all. He would go on to help win a Super Bowl. To me he was the same player thru it all. But hey if you feel better booing that s your right. Just wanted to express an alternate opinion

It's because you don't know what you're talking about? Consider that.
C'mon. You don’t understand that fans are emotional? They go into frenzy when things go well. You mean you believe fans should only show emotion if it's only good? The fans paying and watching a product that is completely miserable? You're judging all those fans that pay to go to the game? How arrogant are you?
Please explain in the scenario of the car salesman, if you don't like what he is doing, you say something direct to him, can't you? How is the paying customer in the Giants game supposed to express his opinion that he/she doesn't like something in a similar fashion? Be someone unemotional like you and shouldn't speak up?
Booing is a form of speaking up. The paying customer is letting the seller/provider of the product that they are very displeased. Since when does any business not want to know? While the Giants know they suck the paying customer is also implying that things must change. SO instead of fans like you who prefer to do nothing, the fans that boo should be commended instead of accepting the same old thing.
I was listening to this live and you could tell he knew he screwed up as soon as the words came out of his mouth. One of those thoughts you’d wished you processed a bit more before you said it out loud.
I’m a salesman. If he spent $2600 a year to help pay my salary, and I was underperforming. Boo away mother fucker
Difference is if you suck he doesn't have to buy from you. He controls the transaction with his wallet. You don't make your metrics and your boss fires you.
You bought tickets paid in advance to be entertained and expect that for your money. You aren't and are stuck with the product so you have two options. Boo and show displeasure or cancel your tickets
If we are allowed/going to yell and scream our fool heads off when something goes well, you make a great play, or trying to drown out the opponents' qb audibles....
then we are entitled to boo if we so feel. (And we are paying $$$$ to watch you 'entertain'.)
It's a wide range of emotion.
Conversely, would you all prefer us to remain silent during bad times, and mild 'golf clap' when you do well? I would think the roar of 70,000 fans when you do well is about as great a adrenaline rush as you can get...?
got $45MM in guaranteed money. I don't think he's as concerned about people booing as he's leading on.
You don’t know that. Fans think they do, but they don’t. These guys want to win.
The fans also want them to win. But one side is paying to experience the losses while the other side is being paid to experience the losses.
When players on shitty teams complain about fans booing, it makes me wonder about their resolve. And it also tells me that the booing achieves exactly what it is intended to do.
He was asked a question and gave a 5 second response where he said he understands it, but doesn't like it. That sounds pretty reasonable to me. He gives the effort so I'm not gonna trash him. Unfortunately for him, this team sucks and he's gonna hear a lot more booing.
and everyone else's response is they don't directly and openly acknowledge that they own the result. Trying 110% isn't the barometer used by fans when they make their voice heard. The results are what drive fan response, and if you don't accept and acknowledge that you work in a job that is solely measured by results then you should find another career.
The results for this team have been miserable, and 200% effort without a change in the results will mean nothing.
The coaches and players have direct control of the fan response. Produce results and you will hear cheers. That is completely on them.
He doesn't like the boos but solved the riddle of how to stop them...all in one interview. Nice work, LW!

I know, I know...the dead money. I get it...

At this point the team is so rotten, that 2022 is already a lost cause. I'd say eat the dead money on some of these guys and get the picks.
Shame on you.
That’s a shame. Get over it, butter cup.

Let's call even...

That's why they boo.
Another reporter called LW's booing a salesman example as a "laughable analogy".
