for so long that, no matter how talented they may be individually, it's very hard to envision this team moving forward with them on this roster.
Clearly the Giants have been set back by a raft of devastating injuries, but there has been no core of players to rally around. And how could there be? The core is filled with players accustomed to chronic losing.
I don't know whether or not Joe Judge (and his coaching staff) created a bigger problem than already exists. After last season, I would have guessed no. But this season it looks like he has thrown accelerant on a smoldering fire, and it sure looks like he has now lost his locker room.
There will be a better day. But that will require the removal of the current Head Coach along with several familiar players who still have enough to play in the NFL. Just not for the Giants.
As for the current G.M., the less said the better. His "retirement" speech has already been written for him and all he needs to do is read it with a little grace and dignity, which would be no mean feat.
For a man of Coughlin's value system to snub Mara on that stage says it all. He knew he was taking the fall when he was the reason they were ever good.
Nate Solder came from a pretty good program :)

there aren't many guys who have been on the team over 3 years. BBI constantly has threads about how much turnover there's been

Nate Solder has been here since 2018. That’s more than enough chronic losing for any one player. And cutting ties with him goes far beyond chronic losing: he is barely playing at an NFL-caliber level.
True, true, true. Hoping a new regime with a new cast of players get us there!
Why?
It's time to get some winners in the building. It's going to be expensive, and I'm not going to give a shit.

yeah, but he took a year off
I'm not going to go through all our draft picks, but I'm pretty sure the past couple of years we've been drafting a lot of SEC guys who are used to winning in college. Not to mention the coaching staff.
Of note - Daniel Jones has been a loser at three levels of football now. High school, college, and professional.
