If there were a total house cleaning…

Who do you think Mara should hire to turn football operations over to? (Please be more creative then Bill Belichick.

For me, I’d make a call to Ozzie Newsome. Give him full control over football operations. No one is off limits to be removed (Chris Mara).

. IMO yes, he built and developed the structure of the Ravens football operations and is available for hire. Belichick is not.

Gentleman judge Jones will be back next year

Chris Mara will be there as long as he wants. Doing whatever he does. (I don’t know what he does or doesn’t do. Neither do you. ) but he owns the business. He can work there or pretend to work there, or collect a check and not even show up if he wants too. Again. We don’t know which he does

Anyway. Ozzie is semi retired but still sorta works for the ravens.

As for GM Ithink chris petit is being groomed. Maybe O’Brien.

It’s not Abrams. Kinda ridiculous when ppl say that. He’s an accountant fer fuck sake. Just goes to show how little ppl know

An accountant who has sat in on negotiations for most recent big target FA’s. An accountant who has sat in on press conferences with Judge and Gettleman. An accountant who is the ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER and the VP of Football Operations. Yes, that accountant

There have been reports of what he does ranging from "suggesting" prospects such as Davis Webb, all the way up to him and Tim McDonnell creating a shadow board to avoid "group think", and then debating the GM in the war room on draft day, with John Mara making the call as to who wins the argument.

One thing is for sure. Chris Mara tried to be a NFL GM twice - once with the Giants, once with the Falcons. He's VP of personnel now. I highly, highly doubt an owner with GM aspirations gets promoted to such a position and then doesn't exert some measure of influence over personnel.
Step one - stop asking Ernie Accorsi for recommendations

The problem is...
AdamBrag : 10/17/2021 11:48 pm : link
how does Mara figure it out?

As it turns out, he doesn't know anybody who knows how to run a modern winning organization. He obviously doesn't know how to. It's very difficult to interview when you don't know what you are looking for.

It sounds gross, but he should probably hire a management consulting firm to figure it out for him. That's what Dolan did with the Knicks. It's not a great option, but it's better than sticking to what you know, even though it doesn't work.

Respectfully, that’s my point. Rumors, speculation, conclusions that have logic but don’t start with facts. I’m not saying your wrong. Shit it could be worse then we all imagine. I have no idea and I follow the team pretty closely. I’ve never seen anything concrete about him except I think one time he skipped the draft to go to a horse race? Maybe?

And not becoming a GM of the giants is not confirmation of incompetence. That would not happen again. Qualified or not. Nor is not becoming a GM of another team (I can’t even fathom how that could work).

The chris Mara thing drives me crazy. It’s one of those things that start as a hypothesis and then get repeated so often it is accepted as fact.

PJ PJ PJ. Your lack of ability to read or do research is entertaining. Ozzie’s contract with the ravens is that of a senior adviser. Has been since the end of 2018 season. He is free to pursue any front office job he chooses if he wants.

What’s hilarious about so many people here, you ask about whom could be chose to lead a rebuild of a house cleaning happens. There are some who suggest “Gettleman is not getting fired” or “Kevin Abrams is the heir apparent.” You fools cannot read since the question asks for some people IF a house cleaning happens.
Newsome is 65

Probably Tom Coughlin.

Ozzie Newsome isn't coming out of retirement

At his age to fix John Mara's mess.

Thats a young man's project. Why would one of the finest GMs in league history want to be a janitor under Mara's working model where he has to listen to Chris Mara pretend to be a scout and John pretend he knows how to determine a good coaching hire.

Please, no. Based on the situation with his wife this wouldn't happen anyway but this is the opposite of what we need from a franchise that can't move on from the past.

For better or worse I think this franchise will go with an experienced HC after 3 first time coaches flaming out. If they do that I hope they go with a young GM with a modern approach.

Tom's situation is probably theonly thing that would stop them. As you said that would be another disaster.

I could see them trying Eli if he wants to be in that role.

Exactly. Why the hell would Ozzie Newsome come out of semi-retirement and leave the only NFL organization he's ever known to come to this disaster?

lol, ok, professor of "research" aka Google searching, what does your "research" tell you about Belichick and his ability to pursue any opportunity?

I'll tell you what it says, he's as free to pursue any opportunity as Newsome is, so give yourself the failing grade genius.

That's a really good one but he retired and he may not want to come back. What he might really good for is a advisory role to help us pick a new GM. For me, as a fan, I think that's the best possible medium we could hope for with Ozzie.

Would be fine with me at this point. I wanted George Paton going back to Reese's firing, but he left the Vikings and is now the Broncos GM.
