Who formulated the horizontal row for the 2nd round of the

2020 NFL draft for the Giants?

The Giants picked Xavier McKinney S, Alabama at 36 overall.

The Cowboys picked CB Trevon Diggs CB, Alabama at 51 overall.

Who would you rather have on the Giants?

For me this brings into question the judgment of the Giant talent evaluators from Joe Judge, DG, up to Chris Mara.
How about Antoine Winfield, who is sporting a ring right now

And has started every game for the defending champs since he arrived in the league?
Now wait a minute.....

I distinctly remember some people believing the Giants got a steal getting McKinney where they did when they picked him, with some saying that he should have been a first round selection. Were you disappointed at the time that the Giants selected McKinney ahead of Diggs?

And while we are at it....does this mean that we are ready to throw the selection of McKinney on the trash heap already is what is basically his rookie season????????? That would be pretty idiotic....

ever wonder why these players are always bad? it probably has to do with playing on the giants.
McKinney doesn’t have to have

The impact of Diggs which has been extremely high to validate his pick. He does need to demonstrate a much higher impact than what he has thus far.
This is unfair
larryflower37 : 10/17/2021 11:14 pm : link
Because every team passed on Diggs and if you knew what you knew now he would be a top 5 pick.
Also let's see him do it for more than 5 games before we make him the next deion Sanders

Giants had a trade down in place contingent on McKinney not being available IIRC.
I wanted Winfield at the time

Had the pedigree and the moxie. McKinney was the safer, by-the-measurables pick. Time will tell but so far not close.

DG also said they had a "solid first round grade" on Hernandez.
What DB could be successful in this scheme?

No chance Diggs has 6 INT playing 15 feet off receivers. Bring Quinn to the Giants and this is a different defense.

Well he had 3 ints in the 2020 season, so it appears he has a “knack” for it.
He also gets burnt

And is on pace to give up the most yards ever at CB.

Theres a reason QBs throw it his way
Dropped INTs......the Giants dropped several INTs
George from PA : 10/18/2021 5:28 am : link
That absolutely killed them....

McKinney was viewed as a great draft pick

Who knows what has happened to him.....same as all the others.

It’s not unfair when the Giants are picking the wrong players every year for a decade straight.
Diggs got lucky yesterday.
section125 : 10/18/2021 7:44 am : link
That INT should have been a completed pass. He was beat and the ball popped up off the WRs hands right to him.
^^
Tuckrule : 10/18/2021 8:01 am : link
Luck has played a huge role in his ints.

Next series after INT gets absolutely burned for a TD. CJ board had him burned for a td and glennon was a half hour late to throw the ball. Let’s relax a little with Diggs.

You all remember Stevie Brown???

I was high on Winfield and shocked we passed on him for McKinney

Excellent analysis.
Unless you said that at the time

Then this opinion means nothing. Hindsight is always 20/20 on the draft.

This is a common refrain, and it does have validity.

But wouldn't it be nice if the paid professionals in the Giants' front office had 20/20 foresight a bit more frequently so that we weren't always second-guessing their choices?

if you do this revisionist bs with every pick over the last 5 years, you'll drive yourself nuts. It's done.
That's just revisionist history
Blue92 : 10/18/2021 9:59 am : link
Most people were happy with the pick. He was drafted around where he was projected, if not a bit later.

Given the collective failure we are seeing here, it's hard to evaluate individual players and their specific contributions.

My guess is McKinney would be playing a lot better or would be perceived that way if he was on a better team.

that's what is so maddening. we can't evaluate any of our players because they all play on a bad team.
