Ole Miss v. Liberty. Appointment viewing with Willis and Corral.
Regarding Willis, it's important to remember he initially went to Auburn as a three star recruit. This isn't just some small school guy that came out of nowhere.
he is probably the best QB prospect coming out. I went looking for comps of him vs. Lamar Jackson, as that is the obvious comp. Everything I have read says that he is head and shoulders a better passing prospect than LJ (or Vick). That's all I really need to know, besides the highlight reels I've seen.
Good point above regarding him being recruited by Auburn. That said, there will be a huge jump in competition going from Liberty to the NFL.
He will never be able to run in the NFL like he currently does in college.
His passing technique is very good and he seems to be able to make all the throws necessary to be a quality NFL QB. I worry about his size in the NFL as I think he will only measure at 6' in stead of the listed 6'2'".
I have not seen Willis yet but will definitely watch his game against Ole Miss.

I'll watch this game. So far ytd, I have not seen really good QB talent in college this year. I'm fine with drafting a QB but not just TO draft a QB.

It seems to me that Kyler Murray has disproved this old wives tale of a QB needing to be 6'3" to succeed in the NFL. The guy is 5'10" and clearly a top 5 QB in the league.

Russell Wilson, all 5'11" of him, already did that.
My stepson goes to Coastal. It was a great game and Liberty won with a crazy finish. He was the best athlete on the field and it wasn't particularly close. He has all the physical tools. They don't run a particularly advanced offense (as far as I can see - they ran him like 15+ times and he passed like 30 times) so it's hard to say how he'd be in an NFL offense. But he has a really strong arm and extends the play as well as anyone I've seen. And he runs like a running back. He's like a bigger Lamar Jackson. Now the same questions about if Lamar's passing would translate to the NFL would be valid for Willis. But I like him the best of the guys in the draft by far.
I do know one thing. You can't draft Willis and then give him to Jason Fucking Garret.
impressive hightlights and looks like Lamar a lot with his style..
He is starting to make some noise by draft analysts. He maybe a dark horse in a weak QB class. I need to watch him play a game as well as Willis. One guy I don't like is USC's Kedon Slovis.
We need a coach and/or OC that are tailor made for his play style ala Baltimore or Arizona. Then draft offensive line to protect our investment and defense to get competitive.
against UAB and Middle Tenn St. Not the entire games, but a good portion. He's a major talent - legit dual threat. Plus arm, plus athlete. Risky for sure, but could be a big ceiling
I'm actually going to the his game November 20th against Louisiana. Ragin Cajuns are a good team. I live a couple of hours away from Lynchburg so I thought it would be fun to see him play live.
These two guys are both significantly better college football players than Daniel Jones was.
I don't care what the current condition of the roster is. If we can improve at quarterback, we should.
Being better college football players than Daniel Jones was is not a high bar to clear and should not be the benchmark. It's still early, but this QB class does not look great. We should not pass on a significant upgrade at another key position just for the sake of changing the quarterback. Remember, committing to drafting a QB no matter what is what landed us Jones in the first place. It was a reach that has set us back considerably.
Put up 365 yards, 2 TDs and no TOs, 21/28 vs Alabama in 2020?
Vs 5th ranked Florida he threw for 395 yards, 3 TDs, 1 INT, 22/31.
Vs 7th ranked Indiana, he went 30/44, 342 yards, 2 TDs, no turnovers.
Ole Miss was a .500 team so each time Corral was working with a significant talent disadvantage.
This guy isn’t a top 10 player? Are we sure about that?
Exactly. I sense that people are scarred by the Jones debacle and are afraid to dip their toe back in the QB water.
It's one of the main problems with this organization and the atmosphere around it - future decisions are too much informed by our own past and not by what's going on elsewhere in the league.
College football is producing exciting quarterback talents that can play well almost immediately. It's all over the NFL. We've got to get back in that pool.
I have watched him a few times and he just makes the right decision all the time. He can run, pass with velocity and is accurate. The only knock is his size, but he played safety in high school and is tough as nails.

I can! And it's pretty exciting.
That said, I don't expect it at all.

They'd have to get to #1 (Detroit) because we'll have #2.

The key is we have to lose to Miami so that we get a higher pick. if Miami is the worst team in the league and Philly gets that pick we are effed

I'd be inclined to pass but need more data.

Why did he transfer?
Willis: 8.9 AY/A, 161.2 rating
Daniel Jones: 6.9 AY/A, 131.7 rating

Kenny Pickett is getting a lot of buzz for Pitt. Time to check him out more. He's having a great year...

I don't see any of the QBs likely to be in the draft as worth a top 10 pick.

If we'd traded him for a first round pick after 2019 and drafted Herbert, is that a setback?
We need to change how we think about drafting quarterbacks and the franchise quarterback concept.

see the most boring and conservative organization on earth looking twice at a dynamic player like Malik. Can you imagine? hahahahaha

Can you imagine him and Toney on the field together….in the back field!

I still feel like Carson Strong is having a great year too.
I'm curious to see what kind of buzz (if any) Eric Barriere of Eastern Washington gets near draft time.
