I was unaware he and Mara spoke on a “regular basis”. Thomas has injuries now to both ankles/feet.
And not sure how you missed this response but I’m sure it will generate much discussion.
Q: Watching Giants fans leave that game in droves yesterday far before the final whistle and then interacting with some on Twitter today, it’s pretty obvious that Giants fans want to know if this is going to get better, that you guys are ticked off and are going to do something about it. Can you assure them it’s going to get better anytime soon?
A: This is definitely going to get better, so there you go. I don’t know what kind of guarantee they want, but I can assure everyone out there that’s a Giants fan and they want to know when it’s going to turn. I can tell them right now we’re working tirelessly to make sure we get this thing turned around in the right direction, not just for short-term results, but for long-term success.

Lets just shut the kid down until he is fully healed.
In college. He’s a try hard guy. Put him on some college team and he can say all the right things to the recruits and the boosters and get the kids ready to play on Saturday. I think he’s almost certainly a really good company man who works his ass off.
But try hard does do it in the NFL. If all you had to do to be successful in the NFL was to be prepared and work hard then anyone could do the job. What I don’t see from Judge is scheme, game planning, in game adjustments, innovation in plays and finding and exploiting mismatches. And I’m sure the guys on the team see this too.
I think we could soon be seeing the beginning of the end with Judge. If he turns hard acre with the players he’s going to lose the team. I don’t know that there’s any alternative but - yeah - I don’t see things going well.
I believe we have talented men of integrity in the Lockeroom. I’ve said it once I’ve said it a thousand times. I have confidence in the locker room. I believe in those guys.’” - Coach mcAdoo November 9, 2017
Excluding a few ‘On any given Sunday’ games. The Giants have not fielded a competitive team for years. Judge don’t tell us your guys are going to play for 60 minutes when the game is decided by halftime because you did not coach them to wrap up or they are lost as a receiver runs free in the secondary or up the sideline. Should we mention 4th down play calling? A lot of these kids have integrity they are are just not good at being football players. And it’s becoming clear you are not good at being a head coach. You are what your record says you are. As Groucho said. ‘Are you going to believe me or your own lying eyes?”
Chris Mara, Dave Gettleman, Jason Garrett and Patrick Graham. Who knows what Judge can do with this kind of supporting cast? Judge's either a moron in good company, or a passenger in a clown car. Who can tell?
…. But what is he going to say that’s gonna change this awful feeling as a fan. Not much he can. He needs to start winning now. Any smart coach knows that you need to stay positive and speak in generalities. Still - it’s frustrating.
We are in a hole that we are never going to be able to dig out of. Season is over before halloween for 5 years in a row.
Blow it up, it worked for the Cardinals
I hear ya! I am a Daniel Jones fan (and I am aware of his liabilities), but if a new GM comes in and decides he is not our QB of the future... so be it.
It really comes down to this: Will a new GM be given full powers to blow this mess up, which would imply that there have been major F-ups starting with the owner?
Giants should just have this clown skip press conferences
Same crap every week. Just a blow hard, should spend more time figuring out how to actually make good decisions and learning how to game plan. Less time listening to his own voice. Yes/no answers and get off the stage.
Very good post, and I agree. Judge has the looks of a guy who would've been perfect for that Mississippi St. job. And I don't mean that as an insult. He could've gotten some of his old college gang together and made some buzz for the school.
He is in over his head as an NFL Head Coach, and is now ruining his credibility like McAdoo did.
If the Giants finish say 4-13, Judge may not get another
NFL head coaching job ever. Don't compare Judge with Belichick. BB was 36–44 with the Browns and won a playoff game with the Browns. Next to early Belichick, Judge seems unqualified, in over his head.

I'm not saying Jude will be another BB, but it's not like BB lit the world on fire his entire tenure with the Browns, his seasons were 6-10, 7-9, 7-9, 11-5 (playoffs) and finished 5-11 his last year. He also released the hometown hero Kosar for going off script in a blowout loss. His first year with the Pats was also 5-11 then hit Brady magic his second year and went 11-5 en route to SB.
Judge hasn't been dealt the best hand out of the gate here. He's made some mistakes, which I think any young coach who's never been a HC could do, but I do believe he could be the guy. Just my opinion...

Not ready to give on Judge just yet. This team is not very good. Missing a lot of important pieces. Weak drafting and terrible trades. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken shit.
All the current talk sounds very familiar. Back in 1983 there was the same type of bashing of a head coach. The Giants kept him after they offered someone his job and that college coach refused the offer so the battered coach stayed. The rest is history.
It is easy to coach a well built team. Not so much with a lot of scrubs that would be back ups on most competitive teams.

Signings not trades....
I think Judge is probably the least of the problem
Not that he isn't to blame for some of this. BUT his team lacks talent, AND is decimated by injuries. What do you want him to say in a press conference? That?
I'd say he's 5%-10% responsible for this mess. If the surrounding organization gave him better talent to work with, I think he'd do fine. I think he has the right general recipe (including making guys run laps for stupid mistakes). But he's still a first time HC, still learning.
If the buck stops with the GM, he's the guy responsible and should take the fall. But if the SAME scouts are telling the next GM, "these are the good OLs in this year's draft," they'll still have the same problems.
Back in the George Young days, they couldn't pick a true #1 WR to save their lives. This crew cannot identify OLs, LBs, DBs or mid-round pass rush talent. If that doesn't change, it doesn't matter who the GM is.

i agree with this take.
i always wonder if the scouts are like "yea these OL are ok BUT THIS TWEENER PROJECT AT CB/LB/DE COULD BE WORLD CHANGING!" every single fucking draft lol

Totally different situation.
Cardinals records:
2015 13-3
2016 7-8-1
2017 8-8
2018 3-13
2019 5-10-1 (Kliff first season and Murray's rookie year)
They perennial contenders for a while there with Arians. He leaves, and they scatter for a new coach. They get scraps after no one wanted to go there, dealt with a former DC in Wilks who was a hot hand but lacked experience. Fired and we are where we are now. But this isn't like the Giants at all.
Funny, but I don't read the releases because a lot of it is the same
you could take any of these and put Shurmurs name or the suit's name and they'd be the same. i did not know that Thomas has injuries on both sides but I also figured Mara talks to Judge on a regular basis. All the news I find out from other areas. Reading through the garbage these coaches and players have to say takes up too much of my life and they've already robbed me of 3 hours of free time on my sunday. Things are going to change huh? How? You have no body there to plug the hole in your submarine you yoyo and even if you did the guy they got for you has fingers like a child and the hole is the size of a cue ball.
'Saw a lot of good things. Gotta clean up mistakes.'
Blah, Blah, Blah.

as the Giants Head Coach. He has a lot of fine qualities.
But whether it was injuries; lack of talent; bad coaching; bad luck or whatever, his regime has collapsed around his ears in Year 2.
It is difficult envisioning him here in Year 3 unless he is given a huge mulligan due to injuries.
And if that happens, then it means the new GM who was brought in was NOT allowed to remake this team from top to bottom.
We are in a hole that we are never going to be able to dig out of. Season is over before halloween for 5 years in a row.

I hope you're right because the Giants are not going to fire him. Not yet. Gettleman is as good as gone, but Judge likely stays another year.
