considering they are down to their third left guard (fourth if you count Gates) and second center. Along with Thomas missing nearly two games. That means three out of five spots without the starter, and at times, Solder at left tackle and Peart at right tackle. That would mean Hernandez (in his first year at right guard) was the only OL playing who was not a backup or playing out of position.
Now, the OL wasn't going to be good, but no line could survive that. Especially when two guys they expected to be backups retired.
both got hurt and AT has now joined them. I would have liked to see how they grew together on the field and I think it really messed up how the Giants planned to operate.

Here we go with the excuses again. First of all, the 2 guys they expected to be backups? Joe Looney was picked up AFTER training camp opened, so what kind of plan was he? He was signed after Judge took one look at his backup OL, and said "holy shit, these guys stink!"
Yes, there have been injuries along the OL, but that only amplifies DG's poor track record, there is no quality depth. Other teams have lost OL, KC and Baltimore among them, and they've managed. For all of his talk about building out the OL, DG has used precious little draft capital at the unit. Baltimore, for example, drafts OL every year. So rather than depend on cheap vets, many of whom may be looking for their last contract before they, ahem, retire, bring in young, hungry, CHEAP draft picks to compete with your starters. That is how you make the unit better, and have quality backups who won't get hurt as often.

Excuse? Nope. Just pointing out the fact that this isn't a surprise. But please, if injuries don't matter, tell us what team in the NFL could lose the number of linemen the Giants have and still have even an average line? What was the Cowboys' record last year after losing two starters on the offensive line?

And please. KC managed? Did you watch the Super Bowl?
Panthers will be licking their chops and DJ is going to get battered unless we figure out how to max protect. Booker also kept picking the wrong guy to block!
it is more scary that these guys just don't see to understand what they need to do.
Is it possible we run such a basic offense overall - in terms of passing game and even running game design BUt,our schemes require too much thinking to really be efefctive?
What I mean is, our game scheme (overall) doesn't seem like we fool too many folks BUT, our blocking schemes seem to require an intricate set of movements, guys crossing from one side to another, guys picking up assignments well outside of their view to be effective. Add in what appears to be a very limited athletic group- how many times does Peart seem to bend over and kick his leg out as his guy is going past him and how many times does Billy price look very clumsy (three weeks ago fell on his ass by himself, Sunday Donald moves him to the right and he clumsily trips into WH- and you get a complete disaster up front.
Solder is done- physically isn't capable and Peart might just be too deficient technique wise to ever be more than a backup. Price is maybe a backup center and WH, who we wanted to replace is the current stalwart of the group. To say the Ol building has been a failure would be being kind. We literally are killing multiple positions with this group. I suspect we would get more coordination from the department of silly walks and more production from the International Twit games..

As if losing those OL didn't mean more than losing their QB. LOL.
on their OL since week 1, and a 3rd has missed time as well. Last I checked, they are 5-1 and drubbed division leader LAC. That is how you build an OL unit.
starting lineup going into the season the best you could be hope for is that they were going to an average run-blocking line and not completely abysmal at pass blocking. Considering the churn right before the start of the season and the injury situation now..it's not a surprise that it's beyond abysmal.
RE: With our injuries and Thomas and Toney probably out this week

HAving Lamar Jackson and one of the best HCs in football, along with a defense that actually does its job once in a while, helps.

Oh absolutely. My main point is about how Baltimore builds and maintains its OL, they draft OL every year, some multiple OL. They always have young guys on cheap contracts who will compete for starting spots over cheap old guys who may be fine with a warm seat on the bench.
Worst ERs
Worst LBs
Worst Playing CBs
Worst Playing Safeties
Most Injured WRs
Do I even need to mention questions at QB and RB?
Quite a list this GM has put together...

The Super Bowl was the only game they played without their Left Tackle. Fisher got hurt in the AFCCG.

I was referring more to this year, they've had some guys out.
We are.
