Here is the best article I have found. According to this and numerous other articles, due to the CBA, basically coaching opportunities have been drastically reduced, reps have been drastically reduced, and therefore new oline players and newly constructed units don't have enough time to learn to play in sync with each other.

Pio was worse than what we have. The guy sucked, yet they trotted him out there as a starter.
