Kadarius Toney & Andrew Thomas are likely to miss time with their injuries, I’m told. Losing to the Panthers could send this Giants season off the rails. John Mara & Steve Tisch aren’t talking, but it’s time for them to answer for their entire operation:

Season already off the rails.
Obviously, it’s still firmly on the rails right now

season is over and they don't play defense. And honestly, having a healthy Toney and Thomas doesn't guarantee we can score 30 plus per game anyway, which is what is needed when you have this awful D.

lol, not so far, my sports world is pretty shitty right now, I'm also a Mets fan.

Hard to complain too much about the Habs, they did have an unexpected cup run come up short, but they regressed massively.

At least until the playoffs. Postseason hockey, especially OT games, are brutal on the heart and blood pressure

I thought Habs looked pretty good Saturday night, tightly contested game for two teams that had something to prove. And your GK looked solid, not small potatoes with Price's issues.

And btw, meant to reach out to you that I was glad to see Evans on the ice and (imo) playing well, after that horror show at end of, what, Game 3 of Conf Finals?
Thomas and Toney may not play

neither should have played last week imho

and the fact that neither were able to finish the game is proof, in hindsight, but JJ and co are paid to make these decisions

The blow might be softened if Golloday, Slayton and maybe even Barkley can go.

However, aint no way around the absence of Thomas.

So the injuries are Mara's fault?
VinegarPeppers : 10/19/2021 1:34 pm : link
I'm NOT saying we are a playoff calibre team by any means, but to almost completely ignore 9 starters out with injuries when evaluating anybody is pretty dumb.

All teams have injuries? How many have 9 starters out?

And of course the first people to negate injuries will be the first to blame McCaffery's absence if we somehow win.

This works for the 2021 season. However, the 2021 season is comparable to most seasons over the last 10 years. The team has been rebuilding for years and is getting worse, not better. The last two coaches crashed and burned, and this one is in a dive headed straight down. The GM said the first two requirements for his job were to get the head coach right and to get the quarterback right, and it looks like he's done neither. The same problems year after year. Even the stadium is lousy.

This isn't a coaching problem, it isn't a GM problem, it's a higher-level problem. The guys running the team stink. That means the owners.

in no way am I saying this season would be different, I an in way believe that, but the offensive talent that has been lost this season, for multiple weeks, during the toughest stretch, is downright stupid. Toney, Barkley, Galladay, Shep (only now returned) Slayton (average but better than replacement level) Thomas the 2 other OL starters...

I don't care what any realist says right now. Losing 75% of the offensive personnel is never ever a good thing. You can't gauge the progress or talent level when everyone is hurt. This sucks.

There is absolutely no reason to watch this team. And there's nothing to be gained from playing games when the entire fucking offense is hurt. You can't even judge Jones if you ask me because he's out there with the keystone cops. This won't stop the usual fucks from bashing Jones, but this is horse shit. Jones is playing with NO ONE right now but yeah, go ahead and tell me a great QB would elevate CJ Board, oh wait, he's hurt too. Sure, he'd elevate this mess.

Fucking nightmare.

I think what this keeps going back to is player selection/roster construction. Golladay/Barkley/Shep, these are the guys we are hitching our offensive wagons to, and going into this season the biggest question mark on all 3 of them was can they stay healthy? It is massively unfortunate, but this was the dice roll we took building around these players. Shep has been an injury question his entire career, Barkley has now started 37 of a possible 54 games since he's been drafted, and Golladay's detractors on this board all mainly questioned his availability.

The question was always will these players remain healthy so we can run the offense we want to run. To me, this is different than freak injuries happening to the Ravens backfield for example, with Dobbins, Edwards, and Hill all going down with ACL's. This is relying on 3 oft-injured components to remain healthy.

Trying to think of parallels here and the best I'm thinking is the Knicks and a frequently injured Kemba Walker (though he's not being relied upon, which is a big difference), or the concerns with the Rangers and signing Zbinejad even though he has some concussion problems. Maybe it's not reason to resign him, but it's something that gives you pause in the long term dollar commitment/reliability.
When was the last time we played a game with all of our starters

The Giants were 4 deep at WR. Now they have no one. Galladay missed time in 2020 but didn't miss much at all in 2019. Remember when Amari Cooper was injury prone? Now he isn't.

I give up. It's bad fucking luck that the entire offense is out right now. Not that I don't think wholesale changes are needed, they are, but I don't wanna hear that the Giants haven't been unlucky lately. They most definitely have. This is just absurd.

imagine if the Giants did win that game in Washington and nothing else changes? What if they won both the ATL and Skins games? We'd be losing our minds right now.

We don't care as much because they are 1-5. Part of me is grateful because being 2-3 or even 3-2 and seeing all these injuries would be worse, in some ways.

I really do give up. Whatever this team does, it just doesn't work. I still think if ANYONE else drafts Barkley, he is tearing up the NFL on an yearly basis.
