Really have to cross any internal candidates off the list. Even Mara has to understand this. Joe Judge is an interesting candidate, but I think he’s got his hands full already. The only advantage is if he fails, it’s easy to do a clean sweep to reboot. I like any candidate related to KC. I think they run the type of football that we are so far behind in developing. Would be a true rebrand.

So Joe Judge is listed as a possible GM candidate? We'd want him to be dual hatted given the state of this franchise?
To me, the Bills turned it all around after having multiple successful drafts. If you can win at drafting, you can deprioritize player personal with free agency.
We don't know how significant a role any of these guys play in their respective organizations. They could be the impetus or they could be just along for the ride...or perhaps somewhere in between. We simply don't know.
Right. Not long ago people actually paid money for a newspaper. But giving your email address so they can send a few emails that go to your junk folder is not acceptable.

why would I want them to have my e-mail address?
But you expect them to give you their product for free?

And I'll add that the Giants organization doesn't seem to know how to find the right person either, making this list or any other list feel meaningless, from my perspective. I don't care where they draft, what GM they get or what coach they have.

Exactly all these guys just look at FO Depth Chart of successful teams. For instance, when the Eagles were doing well guys like Chris Ballard and Joe Douglas got snagged. How is that working out for those teams? The search cannot be as lazy as that. We have to decide what type of football organization we are going to be and find a guy (from wherever) who fits that vision.
I like Daniel Jones, but if the new guy wants to get rid of him. Get rid of him.
Joe Judge, new guy gets to decide. You have football operations be a chain with one vision and not branches. That is how you get accountability.
Abrams is our cap guru correct? Considering our current cap situation and the fact that we continuously have to make choices that result in reducing the overall talent on the team because of tough cap decisions, why on earth would anyone think he is the man to take over? If we were killing it in the cap department then maybe but, really?
That doesn't guarantee anything. After all, Judge came from the Patriots, the closest thing to a dynasty the NFL has had since 2000.
I'm not sure the Patriots qualify, since all of their success has come under one HC (and de facto GM). Pitt, Balt are teams that have had sustained success under multiple HC's and/or GM's.

If Abrams got the job, I would really think Mara is starting to get on a Dolan level. Look, sports is cyclical and bad stretches happen--this one has lasted longer than most. But, if Mara can't see that the entire front office operation is deficient and we need to go outside the comfort zone, then he is truly an idiot. I think he has not had a good decade, I never though him an idiot. I think he is loyal to a fault, but not stupid. He has to be having a wake up call that his way of doing business of half-measure with familiar people is not working.
I'm going to deal with reality, understanding that 3 of the Mara family are going to continue to be micro managing every aspect of the football operation. If that wasn't the case my choice might be someone different.

Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, Browns vice president of football operations: This all depends on how heavily the Giants want to dive into the analytics world. They have not been considered one of the NFL’s more analytics-focused teams. Adofo-Mensah, who played basketball at Princeton, has a fascinating background. He went from commodities trading on Wall Street to analytics work with the 49ers, and then to the Browns.
He's been in the NFL for a while, been on Wall Street and went to Princeton so it shouldn't be a culture shock for him to land in the NYC metro area. If the Mara's are going to be heavily influencing the picks and FAs and I believe they do, I want someone working for them (because that's what the Giants GM does - work for them not with them) that can supply them the best information so hopefully they choose more wisely than they have in the past decade.
who can see this team for what it really is and can come in here with fresh ideas and not someone who has ties to the organzation whobasically has the same vision as Gettleman. In other words, Please not Abrams!!
In anyone from Pittsburgh or Baltimore. Histories of sustained successes with those franchises.
That doesn't guarantee anything. After all, Judge came from the Patriots, the closest thing to a dynasty the NFL has had since 2000.
There's a long line of Patriot coaches that have failed as HCs...but not sure what that has to do with front office personnel?
With that said..Joe Judge as GM would be a terrible move. After last year, I saw some reasons to be optimistic as HC, but he has done an incredibly disappointing job this year in game management, offensive aggressiveness, and defensive pussitis. He should be let go before he's named GM/HC.

My gut tells me it would be a Bill O'Brien level disaster

I recall when the Falcons hired their GM, Thomas Dimitroff from the Patriots personnel staff. He sucked.

Since fired, it's Terry Fontenot now.
