I had another thread about Montana about a TV ad with Montana narrating some Notre Dame clips. I was reading a book while watching TV at the time and didn't realize it was a Guinness beer commercial. The thread sh*t the bed but, it got me to thinking of some of the ridiculous plays he's made and wins. One of them -- Joe Montana coming back to win in the 4th Qtr after missing the 3rd Qtr with hypothermia and the flu. hHeeats chicken soup and goes into the game for one of his miraculous comebacks.

To something I posted in the News thread at the top, it is my fear now with Jones- at what point do the losses really become just who you are. I have been a Jones guy and now have wavered quite a bit as the losses and just the plays that lead to losses seem common place or even expected.

I've been hard on Jones but, after the game last week found it difficult to fault Jones and have been trying to be open minded about him being a good game manager kind of QB.
But at this rate, I think you're right; great QBs just make great plays at the right times.

And this has been the case with Jones since high school. Guy just doesn't win much.
Montana is one of the best to play the game which made it all the more amazing when Leonard Marshall delivered what is still my favourite sack of all time with Alford’s a close second.
2. Man, those old Astroturf fields were horrible. They look like green polyester carpets. Can you imagine what it was like playing on them?

Back in the 80s/90's I lived right near the Redskins practice field in Herndon, VA. They had this outdoor AstroTurf field. We would sneak on and play ball until staff came and kicked us off.
One of the things that always stuck with me was the field was lumpy. HUGE moguls (for lack of a better term) all over the field. Standing a whopping 3'11" weighing a total of 100 lbs, I'm sure they seemed worse. But make no mistake, those were some seriously off balance fields. Very easy for a pro athlete running at top speed to misjudge a groove wrong and snap his ankle or heel.
Too bad iPhone's weren't around back then!
