NFL.com article- Engram ignoring trade rumors

Despite the possibility that a new environment with less scrutiny could help his career, Engram has zero interest in jumping ship.

"I'm not the type of person to want to tap out or be anywhere else just because there's some adversity or things that aren't going the way we want them to go in general," Engram told Pat Leonard of the NY Daily News. "So, of course, I want to be here. It's my job to be here. It's my job to come in here and work. This team is my family, we're in adversity and going to war and trying to fix this thing. So yes, I want to be here, and I really don't want to be asked. That shouldn't be a question to anybody here."

Engram ignoring trade rumors - ( New Window )
So what are the trade rumors? Who will actually trade for him and
MartyNJ1969 : 10/21/2021 11:25 am : link
what is the price?
He talks the part, he looks the part
rasbutant : 10/21/2021 11:29 am : link
By all accounts he cares, he works hard, he's a good teammate.

Now show it on the field. Stop making mistakes, stop failing when the game is on the line. FINISH.
he's been ok this year
djm : 10/21/2021 11:32 am : link
he's probably one of the better players on the team, which aint saying much but the hate on him is weird.

I have news for you all, the team won't stop losing if/when Engram is dealt or dumped. He's an OK move TE that likely plays better in a functional offense. Don't say I didn't warn when the day comes he's putting up 70-7-600 in his sleep.
He should have been traded in the offseason.
Section331 : 10/21/2021 11:37 am : link
Everyone knew he wouldn't be back, but the FO thought that they could compete for a playoff spot, which was a ludicrous proposition. Again, an organizational failure based on a franchise unable - no, not unable, UNWILLING - to scout itself. Nothing changes until that changes.
Terrible football player.

Completely agree with this. The amount of hate EE gets on BBI is so beyond parody. He's a flawed player who got overdrafted, but now we have Jones throwing a pick into triple coverage, but somehow it was Engram's fault.
He drops passes that him directly in the hands.
Dave in Hoboken : 10/21/2021 11:41 am : link
He has tipped so many passes that end up INTs over the past few years it's not even funny. Can't block. But, yeah, he's going to tear it up elsewhere. How many players have posters on here said that about only for it to not end up the case.
He is not okay nor one of the better players on the team
Jimmy Googs : 10/21/2021 11:41 am : link
and neither of those is much of endorsement anyway. Fairly sure we can go without his bad blocking and his 14 catches for 100 yards and some change, and no TDs.

Shedding bad football players like Engram is part of the path to stop losing.

Getting something for him at this point only makes it a slam dunk...
He sucks.
SFGFNCGiantsFan : 10/21/2021 11:42 am : link
I can't wait until he is gone.
EE is a prime example of why we are where we are
jvm52106 : 10/21/2021 11:44 am : link
and that is he is a tease of a player and it is those teases, those moments of wow, that the organization counted on as if it were down to down play. The same can now be said of Jones, where the teases are expected as down to down type play and they just don't happen.

We need to cure the stench of losing and that comes from pruning "losing" players from the roster. If you are more known for the flubs that lead to losses than plays that lead to wins then it is time you move on..
And if he will be so god damn valuable and tear it up
Jimmy Googs : 10/21/2021 11:50 am : link
on another team, then the Front Office shouldn't have any trouble obtaining interest and value for him in a trade.

Let this be Gettleman's final deal. An actual good one.

In fact, he can go with him...

I don't have any stats to back it up, but it seems to me that most of his catches this season have been in garbage time.
Of course he’s ignoring them.

Exactly. The dislike is justified. I have been watching the Giants for 30+ years. I have never seen a position player be the cause of so many turnovers and bad plays.
Anyone

Defending engram at this point are just trying to hard to be contrarian. The guy caused multiple int’s last year that werent jone’s fault at all, dropped multiple game winning passes that were in his hands. Hes a terrible football player. Great athlete, terrible football player.

And it wasn't just last year. It was all through Eli's later years as well.
I think he answered the question perfectly
arniefez : 10/21/2021 1:03 pm : link
My amateur couch GM self wonders that since the Giants are against the cap and probably won't be making any large FA signings this coming off season would it be in their best interest to let their free agents play out their contracts and take the comp picks in 2023?

As long as the Mara's don't let Gettleman do anything really stupid in the next few weeks the Giants have plenty of draft capital for 2022.
It's time to pull the lever
Sammo85 : 10/21/2021 1:11 pm : link
To be honest, Engram, Peppers should be traded. They're not earning anywhere close to their cap hit and financial outlay and aren't in long-term plans (and shouldn't be).

My question is that if the best offers for those two are a 6th or 7th would the Giants get higher round comp picks after they signed somewhere else next year? I don't know the answer. Maybe someone here understands the comp pick formula better than I do.

anyone paying attention knows he is not Great athlete. PFF was mocking him how slow he was earlier in the year. The dude sucks in every way.

No way in hell are they traded for that. 5th is the lowest, 4th is likely what they would want. Giants are already against the cap next year, so they will likely be getting comp picks in 2023.

He’s been ok this year? Have you reviewed his stats? By what measure are those ok? No one is questioning whether he is or isn’t a good person. Just not a good NFL player.

He's soft
JohnB : 10/21/2021 6:46 pm : link
he hears foot steps
he's afraid of being physical, of being hit

This is why he looks so good in practice, he's never going to get lit up by his own team. That's why he sucks at blocking, he doesn't want to hit or be hit.
