not a must listen because of any particular knowledge or insight, but a nice guy who you can "schmooze" sports with. I remember listening to him as a kid when he was Captain Midnight.
He’s one of a kind. I love listening to him. Very funny, very good at his job. I haven’t listened to the FAN in years but I was absolutely a regular back in the early days and Somers and Binigo were always my favorites. Along with Mike and the angry puppy, and Imus in the morning, those were the greatest days of WFAN. Truly historic radio. And man, Captain Midnight was always great!
Haven't listened to him in ages, but back in the 90's he was great with the montages and shtick with playing the "how'bout them Cowboys!" All night after the would suffer a humiliating defeat
He's had a terrific run. He's been a little off some nights given the age and schtick, but been a help some nights where insomnia strikes or not feeling great to be able to sleep.
I wonder if they'll try to move Sal Licata up into that spot and give Chris LoPresti a shot.
Have to think a change is coming too with the Moose and Maggie midday show. It's gotten stale.
Just the other night I was going to post a Steve Somers Appreciation thread. As someone that doesn’t get to listen to WFAN often, because I moved to Seattle, I really appreciate getting to listen to Somers when I’m back home. He had a segment on Leonard Williams not liking the boos he got at home the other night. It wasn’t the most interesting subject, but he has a way of talking that makes any subject worth listening to. He’s an old school, iconic show host, that I’ll always associate with late night WFAN.
I'll miss the schmoozer, the last vestige of the FANs heyday.
And always a moment or two for the nostalgic, which I liked, figured he would be hanging them up soon, in peace
I couldn't agree more on the humorous montages where he took aim at the Cowboys and the Fishsticks! He'll be missed.
Absolutely. Gotta push the product. I’m literally watching a commercial for it right now.
