In fact SB's rolled ankle and Gates rolled leg were clearly not turf induced. And I would even say probably not KT's. I think he got re-hurt on the OB tackle the refs ignored.
I am all for grass but the turf can't be blamed for the above or the pulled hammies either.
Wonder if they (logistically could) go the route of Arizona. Believe AZ grows/maintains the grass outside of the stadium and then essentially rolls It in. But i believe the stadium we built with that in mind.
Don't want a grass field, they are too cheap to upkeep it, then when it looks bad in the winter tgey are too sensitive to take any criticism. Time to wake up and realize, John Mara, like his father, is no great owner, he is run if the mill and mediocre, at best.

This is more of an indictment on the NFL then the Maras. Replanting sod in the winter time in NJ with 2 teams sharing the field is not green thumb advice. They had this issue in the early 00s yet id imagine Grass technolodgy is far superior now.
Nontheless- metlife is bidding for FIfa in 2026. They would need to have some sort of grass technolodgy in advance of that event to prove to FIFA they can handle it. Wouldnt be suprised if they go back in the next year or so.

AZ doesn't have to worry about the grass being covered with snow while it's outside the stadium :)

That ankle was hurt before the tackle. It was taped at the start of the game. Can't miss the tape it is day-glo bright. It was how I followed him each play.
It would serve the NFL to fund a study. Parameters could include type of field, grass and type of artificial turf. It would classify lower body injuries, joints (hip, knee, ankle, foot) muscles (groin, hamstring, quad, calf) and soft tissues (contusions). It would classify contact and non-contact injuries. It would account for weather conditions. It would account for previous injuries.
These are just a some of the variables that could be studied. We have film going back many years that are studied by groups like PFF just for statistical reasons. Use the film for this study. There are epidemiology departments at major universities that would love NFL funding for this study.
If I can suggest this, you really think no one else has? There is a reason why the owners don't care to do a comprehensive study. Is it to preserve owner's independence in choosing and maintaining fields? Injured players do cost them money, so why wouldn't they want this info?
