Welp agreed, but I think at this point from a business decision, as long as he does not completely crater, and gets to the second half unscathed, you keep him another year because of the Cap situation. And then kirk Cousin him or move on after that, regardless who replaces Gentlemen. He is cheaper then veteran of quality coming in or better then what is in the draft.
Get something for him now while you can. A new GM and possibly head coach are going to want to get their own quarterback.
What are the teams you think realistically who take a flyer on him, and what do you think his value is. I don't more then Sam Darnold, do you? It is funny cause I think the worst Sam plays the lower Daniel's value becomes, because the reclamation narrative takes a hit in the market as a trend.
Nobody can possibly succeed under these circumstances and it's really been like this his entire career. Idk how true it is, but my Brother said he saw someone tweet that DJ has only played 17 career snaps with his full array of weapons and 0 career snaps with his entire starting offense. Which to me is just insane and quite sad.

I agree Rick, I don't really hold anything against Daniel in terms of whether he can be a professional QB in the NFL, I think he can given a chance. But the Giants have become the Jets as an organization and until we fix the fundamental problems with roster construction all skill players will come to this team to wither and die.
Sure the young man has talent, but his body not built to take the pounding NFL WRs take. I'd don't know the stats, but it seems like he has spent more games on the trainers table than on the field.
and for us. I hope Jones doesn't get beat up too badly. Most of the good players on the team are hurt and the Giants are a bottom 5 team again.
But we don't need to see anymore of Daniel Jones to figure out who he is as an NFL QB. If the Giants think he's good enough to be worth a 2nd contract they're going to have to find a lot of great players to surround him with because he's not good enough to carry a team.

Considering injury history. It’s truly bizarre to sign/keep all of these players that cannot stay healthy. Golladay played in 5 games last season. Shepard can’t stay healthy. Saquon is obviously a walking injury machine. The entire way this team thinks and evaluates players needs to be completely overhauled. Just a horrible front office.
That's the right attitude. Three years from now this roster is going to have very few of the players currently on it. Sell everything you can to amass draft picks for the rebuild. This applies especially to the young guys in rookie contracts... They're the most attractive trade pieces.
We saw a glimpse of what our team can be with a good OL. Daniel was able to pick apart the New Orleans defense. What ever separation our receivers got Jones was able to get the ball to them.
If our front office stops shopping at the expired isle for line men and draft or pick up a product with some shelf life left.
Expect a shit show today and hopefully a truck packing boxes from Gentleman’s office tomorrow..
Go Terps probably still wants to trade Jones in an "economic move". What does that even mean?
It means the best value we're going to get from him is trading him now for a draft pick.
If they aren't going to sign him to a second contract they should get something for him.
Jets got more for Darnold in the offseason than they would have gotten during the season and more than we can get for Jones right now. Especially if college QB's keep disappointing there will be a market when teams realize that they might not land a QB.
Our top 3 receivers are out.
Yes?
Our top 3 receivers are out.
Yes?
Right... and our RB, our LT, Center...

Oh, boy. Not good.
I guess the test for Daniel Jones is this: No matter what his stats are, so long as he doesn't look dazed, scared and confused, he passes the test.
Daniel Jones under such reduced circumstances.

Hi M.S.,
At least for the day, I agree. There isn't much for him to work with, but he should at least look confident.

Absolutely the right thing to do. Move on

Would like to see him not get the ball slapped out of his hand from his right side. Just take the sack, but hold onto the ball, would be good.

Whether or not it's fair doesn't matter.

At least their cap hit won't be so bad next season...
(checks notes... $31.5 million of dead cap in 2022...)
Never mind.

It’s really getting to the point where that has to be considered the rooting interest
