He is an average QB who can win games on a stacked team, be middle of the road on a mediocre team, and lose on a bad team (which is what he has largely done here).
He isn’t a bottom 10 QB. He is not a top 10 QB. He is an average QB. If he was a 3rd round pick he would be playing as expected. For the 6th overall pick you e pact to get a guy who elevates the team and makes the “wow” plays. He doesn’t do that.
If Gettleman had built a better roster around him he could be enough to run this offense successfully. But the team around him is garbage and he can’t elevate it with his skill set.
100% agree. Excellent perspective.
Is it possible, with all the injuries on offense, that the Giants team Jones is dealing with is worse in the NFL than his Duke was in the NCAA?
Possible.
It’s year number 3. His improvement from this point will likely be marginal. There is not some sort of straight line projection where QBs get better every year forever.
The point is with the team that has been on the field with him for most of his career, it's impossible to know what he is. Swap him in for Brady and let's see what he does. Or Stafford. People talked about how Stafford the same way when he was with the Lions. Are they saying that now that he has a team around him?
Case in point, Jones outplaying Mahomes today. Mahomes has Hill and Kelce. Let's swap them for Engram and Pettis or Slayton.
I'd even say great. He alone ended 2 of their drives, it won't show on the stat sheet but he was huge today. Probably still gonna need him one more time.
RE: RE: Why is there a penalty on the Giants on every ST play ?
he is not the ST coach...

On Holmes again.....he’s got sticky hands and gets called for holding quite a bit.
this is how the D was supposed to play.
It’s what makes them special

Judge is supposed to be a ST coach yet they are sloppy as hell
he is not the ST coach...
Still a bad look when that is supposed to be his area of expertise
its not Judges ST its Thomas McGaughey ST. You think Judge with HC responsibilities has time to focus on that.
You think?
You think?
No. No I don't.

At chiefs on a Monday night, forget it!

or at least one of the two is probably better than we may think.

Mahomes just got carried off the field after taking a shot to the helmet
he was practically on the bench
+1.

He walked off with help but under his own power. He wasn’t carried off.
Was wondering if the success is more Jones or scheme or something else?
He’s gotten used to it!

Mahommes throws a TD from the turf while his leg was being amputated by Andy Reid

The only games we won are those where we called plays where Jones can use his legs

Makes sense to run away (roll out) from this O line with all the injuries.
