JonnyR : 10/26/2021 4:02 pm
As a big fan of all things Dune, I'm excited (and relieved)! Release date is October 20, 2023
Dune 2 Greelit - ( New Window )

I was ready to watch another 3 hours after part 1.
I initially saw some shaky reviews so I was
ATL_Giants : 10/26/2021 4:13 pm : link
hesitant. But I love what they did (mostly).
The tempo was so much better for the scale of the story. I'm glad the cut it into two parts (didn't know that at first).

Good stuff to come.
Great news

That first one was so good at translating the book. I mean every aspect of it was how I pictured it while reading the book.
With all those flashback.....much of it is already filmed

I'm in a unique scenario where i happened to finish about 300 pages prior to seeing it so pretty much right where the movie left off by pure luck. Now I get to finish it with his world already in my mind, which to your point, is on track with where I pictured it anyway.

right now has to be #1 on the list of directors that I'm seeing whatever they make on night one, no hesitation. The visuals he puts on screen are absolutely unbelievable. I was blown away by Dune. Needless to say, I'm excited about this news.

100%, he's in the "no questions asked" category of directors right now. If he made a movie about painting fences, i'm in.
Awesome news!

It was great and I am looking forward to the next chapter. The cast is outstanding.
Hopefully by then, COVID will be under control

I'm really not a fan of going to movies, even vaccinated.

Then again, I haven't enjoyed the movie theater experience for about a decade.
First movie

was very good. Glad to see this.

Though my wife is probably tired of me comparing and contrasting the two versions.

2nd best IMAX experience for me (Avatar #1) - if/when you see it in theaters its completely worth the extra $5 or whatever it is.
Good lord...

I have it on HBO go for free and I still…

Never any doubt it wasn’t going to happen, as Denis Villanueva wouldn’t have signed on to direct that’s was the case. The bigger issue is if they will adapt the sequels in the coming years. I would love to see the whole thing fleshed out. The tv adaptation they did in 2000 was good but I want to see what they can do with what’s available now visually
There was definitely a doubt
UConn4523 : 10/26/2021 6:40 pm : link
$175 budget that carried interest for an extra year plus means it probably needs $350-$400m to break even. Bond was shelved for 2 years and needs like $750m to break even.

He signed on to make this prior to the pandemic but this was absolutely in financial jeopardy.
I'm glad

I watched the first and just didn't feel right without another.
Very good movie

I enjoyed it a bunch and this is coming from someone who knows nothing if the books and have never seen the first cinematic adaptation. I actually ordered the books the other day and am excited to read them.

You know the first one as corny as it was still entertained

Corny? What makes you say that?
Fair bit of speculation that Barry Keoghan

could be cast as Feyd Rautha. I'd be a huge fan of this.
