He might end up being a solid player for someone down the stretch this year and perhaps get a good 2nd contract.
His time in NY has just run its course. The drops, the injuries, the lack of blocking, the offensive schemes he played in...all reasons he's just got to go.
He seems like a good dude, coaches love him, I wish him good luck in the future...
But last year was the year. At this point I’m not sure it makes sense given the injuries so I’m ok either way. However, not less than a 4th or a decent TE to replace him.
value would be if - and it's a big if - the Giants qualify for a compensatory pick. It would seem based on their cap situation they should but a 4th now is probably a better pick than what the Giants will get from the compensatory formula.
I will still be shocked if the Giants trade him or anyone else. It would be out of character.
weapons that they have- Tampa Bay is one always looking (James Bradberry???), Buffalo who could use a TE and perhaps even the Rams (they have Higbee but nobody else at TE). Giants should take anything they can get and prepare for next season.

For a 5th, we should keep him. A 4th or better, then trade. he's not a problem child, just has the yips sometimes.
the guy is a literal turnover machine over the middle in close quarters but a good vertical threat and downfield receiver. If they aren't going to use him as a vertical threat why not just save the cap $ and get a draft pick?
had they traded him in the offseason they could have signed Reddick

This has been my biggest issues with some of our signings and players we refuse to trade. We just don't really use them that well, so it becomes a hopeless scenario.
Really liked bringing Jackson here, but here we are in prevent defense almost exclusively it seems.
Engram I understand keeping but not with his usage. And with all of our injuries he should be a major part of the offense - if he isn't either by health / ability / performance / trust than just be done with it.
RE: RE: it's mind boggling they havent traded him considering how they use him

good points. you're going to sign all these "cover guys" then plan tight man coverage, not soft zones. YOu don't trust Engram, move on.
don't see the Giants trading Engram until after the Chiefs game at the earliest, and even then, I'd be surprised if they traded him for a fifth round pick. Engram is apparently liked a lot more by the FO than BBI. I would trade him but wouldn't be surprised if they resign him next year, which I'm sure will make everyone here extremely happy.
With nothing to back that there is any interest in any team trading for Engram. Just one DB citing another DB’s opinion. Then next year when Engram is gone, these same DBs will come back and bitch that the giants should have taking the offers that were there for Engram. Just a bunch of horsesh!t until they put legitimate offers in the article. This could be them asking a guy would you take engram for a lunchbox.

and the real game. The entire starting receiving corp injured and he still can't find his way to being value-added on the field. Just ridiculous.
If can do somewhat better than a 7th round pick with negotiations, then not trading him would be idiotic. Would actually like to get another player instead if that is an option from any of the interested teams. A young RB, LB or G/OC buried somewhere on a depth would be a nice get.

Evan Engram was noticeably absent from Giants' stretch lines. With trade deadline looming next week, his status will be worth monitoring, and with plenty of speculation.
No official word yet as to why Engram is not out on the field.
Maybe I missed it but I dont think there has been a game where I thought EE won it for us but I can certainly see some games where he pretty much lost it for us. He's just not a good football player, talent is there it just doesnt happen on the field for some reason.
I hope we can get something for him, just tired of thinking he is going to have a good season to be disappointed. the Giants have never been able to get a receiving only TE to perform.
get some picks. I like him, but he is poison here.
.
I am not sure they would get multiple picks, but I have been
saying for two years now, move on from Engram.
Now is the time, no reason to bring him back next year.
Maybe he figures it out some place else, don't hold your breath on that...
He had a nice block and caught some short passes with no turnovers. But anyone could still see he ran terrible routes(into defenders and out of bounds). Maybe some of this falls on coaching, but he just doesn't have football instincts on the field. A 4th would be fair value.
and has a marginal impact when on the field, often a negative. No idea why he wasn't traded years ago. The TE position has been declining since Boss hung em up, and when NYG finally spends a high pick on TE they get Evan Engram. I honestly preferred Larry Donnell.

A 4th would be great for the Giants, but not many teams are going to give that for a 1/2 season rental.

Didn't Engram get dinged up a little in the Carolina game?
since it would be one less "lost FA" in the formula calculating our potential compensation. if trading him is for a pick equal to the projected compensation pick then it's best to keep him.

It also depends on who else is going, and what their compensatory value is. Peppers? Hernandez? There are a limited amount of picks you can get, even if you sign no FA's.

NOW GO GET A PICK FOR HIM.
ship him because we're not oging to be able to pay him anyways
why would the Bills give the Giants Knox and a pick? Not happening.
I will still be shocked if the Giants trade him or anyone else. It would be out of character.

This is the craziest thing I’ve read. Why settle for Knox. Let’s trade him for OJ Howard while we are it or Njoku

There's no F*ing way we should re-sign him.
Pack his bags...................

Knox might be as good, probably better, than Engram and already has chemistry with Allen. Why would Buffalo make that trade?

for (another Ole Miss Rebel) TE Dawson Knox and a 6th rounder.

They wouldn't in my view.
a 2-way TE difference-maker?
Jeremy Shockey in 2002?
LOL i hope you’re trolling. Knox is 10000000 times better than Engram. Buffalo would laugh at the suggestion.

Engram is clearly a talented player, but he could definitely use a reset somewhere else.
