From a NYT article:
"His football coach at Charlotte Latin School, Larry McNulty, likes sharing the story of how, as a scrawny high school sophomore, Jones was hit so hard that McNulty thought he was dead. The blow merely dislodged Jones’s helmet and mouthpiece. Rising from the grass, he looked McNulty in the eye and said, “Get me a damn helmet.”
He is a tough kid. And likeable.
But the burden is on him to score more points. And that comes with being a lottery pick.
Do that and a lot of the noise will settle...
LOL

I would like to think that was sarcasm
LOL
For all the faults the team has, the blame clearly lies at the feet of Jones. Get with the program, pal!

That's how I took it
Eli wasn't always "smart". He made plenty of boneheaded throws.
He is a tough kid. And likeable.

Getting pts is a team effort bw. Not only on the quarterback, I think they will get there soon, especially if they can get all weapons back together

Can you guys ever give it a rest. Must you come on every thread with your Anti Jones rhetoric. Any thread where the D is criticized you have to post and bring up the Offense which is always a subtle dig on Jones, Now there is a thread about how tough the kid is, he is the QB of the team that this website is all about and many people including you and Terps "both lie him as a person" so I really don't see why you had to pollute this thread with the same crap that is all over and ruining this site. Give it a rest please.
So was Dave Brown 🤷♂️
some posters here lose their minds. Tired of reading all their little gotcha posts. They root for the giants to lose every week just so they can be right about the 2019 draft.
I wouldn't. He's definitely a tough guy and I've wanted it to work out for him. But reality is what it is. Playing QB in the NFL is really fucking hard and a microscopic few have the talent to do it well.

I've grown to appreciate bw because as anti-Jones he is he doesn't usually sound like he hates the guy or something. Which is more than you can say for certain posters.

I just need him to be tough enough and smart enough to be available for every game, like Eli

I think you're missing the point. He was smart about not getting injured. End of story
The guy is the biggest problem with our offense. He is going to get the whole management staff fired.
The hilarious thing was when Jerry fired him he refused to leave the building for like a week. Clueless
We get enough of that from Biden and the communists don't think this pertains to football...

Most here acknowledge his toughness and I just thought this was an interesting little anecdote. Why do some insist on turning everything into a chance for controversy?

To this point (3 years) I have not entered the pro/anti Jones fray, but this comment is clearly absurd. Often when a comment is clearly absurd it is because it was intended as satire ... I hope this is the case.

Ihave very, very strong political views, but I know better than to blatanly post them on this site. The only rationale I can think of for you doing so is to get this thread deleted.

Why can’t someone post an interesting story about our qb without it being turned into a debate?

That said, this post is spot-on.

...because Eli wasn't mobile I didn't see it that way...Eli didn't get hurt running with the football because he couldn't do it. But yeah I'd agree 100% that Jone's needs to protect himself better...having a solid backup needs to happen for this team to survive the 1-2 games jones may miss a year.

You can't make up this kind of ironic stupidity...LOL

Better question, who here is saying people are doubting his toughness?
People want arguments.
