According The Giants are 25-43-1 on Monday Night Football, including 9-13 at home. So, doing the math: 69 games, 22 home, 47 away. Giants are home 31.9% and away 68.1%. How is that possible?
The Giants have 3 primary games this year and all are on the road. Seriously!
Does anyone see this as problematic? I do. I noticed it decades ago.
Well, they were at home last week and this lengthens this week doesn't it? And that extra day may allow for some of the WRs to be available vs KC.
The problem isn't when and where they play, it's more about their play...

any game that shortens the week and is on the road is a problem.

the problem comes when you either have less rest than your opponent OR you have the same rest but your opponent didn't have to travel. Thursday night away games are the biggest issue, but Monday games can be a problem too.
here's an interesting stat. over the last 3 seasons, in December or later when players are beat up and beat down, the home team is 19-3 on Thursday nights.

KC had to travel last week to Tenn and got their asses handed to them. They are home this week versus Giants and then have to travel next week. So not sure what your point is?
The 19-3 is statistically significant but it is not December nor is this a Thursday night game. So not relevant here, right?
Yep. And I was there. Horrible night.
& the '12 loss to RGIII & WFT on MNF killed us. We win that game & we win the East that season. That game still stings.
Sure did.
Can’t hold, push, shove, tackle the opponent without a flag while our players drawing a flag touching the opposing QB, or sudden phantom calls from imaginary plays after the head ref gets a buzz from the booth.
The Rodney Dangerfield of teams, even during our 06 through ‘11 run.

I remember losing to Cleveland in '08 on MNF when we were 4-0 or 5-0. Their fans chanting 'Overrated'. That game sticks out.

Yes I remember that game the Giants were 4 - 0 Eli had a bad game with 3 int and one returned for a TD 94 yards. Even though they lost 35 -14 the game was still within reach going into the 4th qtr down by only 6. We know what happened after that game a 7 game winnning streak before Plax decided to go to the club with a gun tucked into his PJs that went off.
I remember that game, the one game of Braylon Edwards' career that he actually looked like the #3 overall pick.
Amen. Stop with the excuses. My goodness...
There’s something about being in the stadium for a big night game.
Yeah. The team then reeled off like 7 or 8 straight wins. Just an odd game.

That 2012 game pissed me off. They couldn’t stop the read option and then Bob Griffin fumbles and it’s bounced on by fucking Josh Morgan for a touchdown
Plus the NBC production and telecast is the best in the biz IMO. Likely unpopular, but I enjoy the Al Michaels/Collinsworth duo- Collinsworth is one of the most knowledgeable commentators there is.
This is 100% true. Traffic concerns on mondays.
The Giants (and Jets) also lied and said that parking passes would be a temporary thing that would only last until Giants Stadium was paved over.
1. teams win more games at home. the giants record on MNF is worse than their regular season average because they only play 31.8% home games. the team itself feels the losing more of these 'big games' and therefore has less confidence.
2. traveling back home on a short week impacts the next week's game as they are more tired.
3. lastly, and least important, the national audience sees the giants in these prime time games over the long haul at a disadvantage. therefore, since the giants lose more of these games, the national audience has a lower opinion of the giants and the giants don't generate as many fans around the country. this costs the giants revenue.

I believe the Browns didn't punt all game. It was a horrendous game by the defense, as bad as I've seen, especially given the opponent.
I view that game as an important one in modern Giants history. That was the first sign of cracks in the offensive line - cracks that continued to worsen even to this day. To me the peak of the Giants' last 20 years would have been a week or two before that game. After that, it started to decline ever so slightly. It lurched up again briefly in 2011, but that game was a sign of things to come. Point of inflection.
And Saturdays! I love Saturday football. I hate sunday night thru Friday morning fooball;)
and yeah what ever glimmer of hope i had for them winning is quickly extinguished by the bright lights of monday night, patrick mahomes on the big stage and the giants record there.:(
xtian, thanks for sharing as it is an odd percentage. Is that also the case for SNF games for the Giants too?
I don't have the facts on this, but I never liked night games for the Giants in general because it seemed like they lost way too often. And I am not referring to just the last 10 years, but even the decade or so before that when the team was much more successful.
Maybe the overwhelming away percentage has been a large reason why.

agree with both of you guys. those Saturday afternoon games in December were always a treat.
I despise SNF, MNF and most especially TNF
my understanding these numbers were for games played on Monday Night. we know that MNF moved to SNF and another MNF started, so i don't think SNF was included. neither was TNF. both of those are new additions.
I hand calculated the TNF and the Giants are 3-7 with 2 homes games and 8 away games--this includes this year's wash game. does anyone think if the Giants had 8 home games and 2 away games that they would still be 3-7? No way! they would be at least 5-5 or even 7-3. they lost 2 close games to philly, 1 to wash, and 1 to chicago on away games. and the giants since 2006 haven't been so good overall.
I'm surprised that the Giants organization hasn't bitched about this. the only way this could be is that the mara's have wanted it this way--as several here have mentioned. true, the fans who go to the games are put out because of horrible traffic around NYC. but for every other fan, especially those not living in the metro area anymore [like me], it absolutely blows! i'm guaranteed to see them live on these prime time games and don't have to go to a sports bar and get treated to consistent losing and being at a disadvantage. it sucks!

it's about the giants being setup for failure by having a disproportion of away games.
