NFT: Any House Music Fans on BBI?

RELICDOA : 10/27/2021 7:19 pm
Many house music classics originate straight out of NYC….Masters at Work, Todd Terry, Kenny Dope, etc.
House is an infusion of so many cultures and genres, truly one of the only genres that is multi cultural, multi demographic and people of all ages.
If you have no interest in dance music, club music, hip hop, disco, Latin and electronic music…..house is prob not for you.

Commenting here so I can find this thread later and say my piece when I'm not as stone.

Plus, house music can sometimes be a nebulous term, but I can confidently say I like the same type of house you're talking about based on the artists you mentioned
I listen to...

progressive house & techno all the time. Some deep/minimal tech too. Not really a fan of vocal, housy house. Prog has been really good the last few years. Still going out once a month or so to check out local parties and hear what's out there.

Yes House is a huge genre and there are subsets of the genre. I was born in the 70’s/raised in the 80’s…. Early electro (Kraftwerk) was a huge influence. Then growing up in Providence which is basically a mini NYC. House here was heavily influenced by Louie Vega, Todd Terry, early Chicago House, Latin and Freestyle

lofi etc...

I have DI on most morning while working to have something in the back ground. If I come across something that peaks my interst I will jump over to Soundcloud and search out that artist.

Im a residentail designer so the music gerne allows me to focus on my task at hand and hours pass by while working. In an ironic twist I listen to the Blueprint show on DI. Blueprints is put out by the Dark Architect,,,some inrony there.

I enjoy other artist on the EDM relam and world, depends on mood time of day and what is going on in my life at the time.

Was driving back from a meeting yesterday and was listening to Pretty Lights, which I had not listen to in some time. Good to hear positive vibes.

Di FM has a free version and worth checking out if you enjoy this music.

More D&B than house
TXRabbit : 10/28/2021 9:11 am : link
but so many sub-genres can be considered "house".

I was fortunate enough to have been a club kid, 89-92 and still listen to many classics that played at the club.
Spotify surprisingly has a ton of old remixes and EPs that I used to have to hit YouTube to find.

Also, if you like mashups and seamless mixes, look up DJ LEON MEGAMIX (various platforms) for some of the most amazing mixes. The one I most recommend is his Max Raveup Megamix 23 where he takes old club classics and mashes with club/pop hits from the early 2000s.

Is a name I haven’t heard in ages! I enjoyed Derrick Carter and Erick Morillo back in the day. Regularly listen to BBC essential mixes from the 90s and early 00s. Any other sets that people recommend?

Thanks for the heads up! If you ever come through Philly, I recommend checking out the Shakedown (which I think is right up your alley), Goodie, and PEX shindigs. PEX & Shakedown have monthlies the second Friday & Saturday of the month respectively. Goodie is down in South Philly every third or fourth Saturday.

And now I must be a selfpromotingspambot and share my Soundcloud page:

Paul Scott from the Newark House scene when I worked in Vogel's Records in Elizabeth when I was in college. He was friends and did music stuff with DJ Mike G who was my co-worker. I got out of college and lost touch, but it was cool when I found out that he became a name in music. He was DJ P/Pierre when I knew him.
