Let’s all help JG. 1st and goal at the 5, you make the call.

Spider56 : 11/17/2021 2:16 pm
No more inside handoffs from the tight formation or jet sweeps that lose yardage. I’m going trips to the right side and Toney wide left to spread them out, DJ takes 1 step to the right and inside shovel pass to Rudolph Going back to the left ... What do you guys got?
Bunch formation
RCPhoenix : 11/17/2021 2:23 pm : link
Play action pass, one TE on each end, each TE delays route, fakes a block and runs fade route. Jones throws to the open TE or throws the ball away.
I'd call
Bill in UT : 11/17/2021 2:26 pm : link
a time out
Isolate Golladay and throw a fade.
mittenedman : 11/17/2021 2:27 pm : link
The Giants went out and aggressively got one of the best contested catch guys in the league. The end zone fade to Golladay should be a tremendous weapon, as it was to Plax.

Daniel Jones is a basketball player who no doubt knows how to throw a post entry pass. It's the same skill.

And if they overplay Golladay? Have Rudolph running a fade on the other side.

If both are double covered the middle routes are available.
Legs option
Thegratefulhead : 11/17/2021 2:29 pm : link
RPO so he has the option to run pass or hand it off based on the D. I want Rudolph using his body to post up at the GL, I want a fade being run to the right and someone crossing in the back of the end zone. Toney is my RB in this RPO at the goal line.
giants win
bobc : 11/17/2021 2:31 pm : link
I give the ball to Jacobs and he runs it in. Touchdown giants
Agree, spread them out
HopePhil and Optimistic : 11/17/2021 2:34 pm : link
And retain run/pass option.

I’d use two tallest receivers wide left and right, then two best blocking TEs inside them ( is that called a double slot?) with one in motion to seal the edge, and run Jones off the sealed edge with a pitch option to Barkley or throw to the receivers with one on one coverage.

You could even try this with Toney replacing Jones. Four tries from the 5 no way I settle fora FG!
I'd call the ol' Statue of Liberty play

Go with delay of game
Giantimistic : 11/17/2021 2:40 pm : link

dont throw a fade
Platos : 11/17/2021 2:40 pm : link

almost anything else would be ok

You got Nate Solder sealing on the left side, you still want to go with this ?
Solder can let his guy run right through, like he always does.
Jimmy Googs : 11/17/2021 2:46 pm : link
that play cannot be defeated.

Besides Thomas is coming back to LT, look a few threads up...
No. Fade. Routes. Ever. Again

1st Down - E. Penny up gut the for 2 yards
2nd Down - D. Jones with the naked bootleg
3rd Down - send D. Booker over the top
Same play as when Jones got knocked against Dallas
give66 : 11/17/2021 2:49 pm : link
except throw it to Rudolf. He was wide open
Naked bootleg.
ambr0se201 : 11/17/2021 2:55 pm : link
all day
I say pooch punt the ball to the 1 yard line
superspynyg : 11/17/2021 2:55 pm : link
They won’t be expecting that!!!!
Realistic sequence:
ambr0se201 : 11/17/2021 2:56 pm : link
1) Booker gain of 2 up middle
2) Engram jet sweeped no gain
3) Jones rolls out, no one open so he forces a throw that gets batted and nearly picked.
4) FG and judge is smiling

Followed by either a false start, delay of game, or play with blown assignments. It is the Giants way.

Or a touchdown, followed by the inevitable illegal formation.
Red Zone play calling
Archer : 11/17/2021 3:12 pm : link
There was a play called in the Kansas City game that I loved

Tyreke Hill was split wide right at the snap he runs accross the field toward the left

Mahome fakes right, and moves left.
He fakes a handoff to the running back moving to the right

Mahome has three options, run the ball, hand the ball off, or pass to Hill.

This play applies pressure on the inside linebackers, safties, and corners, and forces the defense to comit

Mahome faked the handoff and ran hard toward the corner forcing the safety and linebacker to attack him
This opened the middle of the field with a corner trailing Hill

Hill was wide open.
There was no good option to defend this play

Love to see a similar play call with the Giants.
Jones fakes to Barkley and throws to Toney crossing the field

Just sit Engram on short and goal. He's really not suited for it.
Let me know the next time you see Daniel Jones throw a good red zone
arniefez : 11/17/2021 3:59 pm : link
fade or a good middle of the field 20 yard back shoulder. It will be the first time I see either from him.

On first down with this QB and OL and I'm spreading the defense out as much as possible and giving Jones an inside the tackles run pass option while the WRs run crossers and closing my eyes and hoping he doesn't throw it to the wrong team.

I got my idea from the same play.
Three WRs, one RB and one TE...
EricJ : 11/17/2021 4:04 pm : link
Two WRs on one side of the field. The TE switches sides pre-snap. Then one WR goes in motion across the field. All of this to create some confusion or hesitancy on the defense.

QB is behind center, not in shot gun.

Now, we can run just about anything which will make it more difficult to defend against.

No fade routes.. our WRs do not run them well and Jones does not throw them well. Remove the play completely from the play book.
I'm going with a Tebow-esque jump pass from DJ
FranknWeezer : 11/17/2021 4:09 pm : link
He begins to barrel up the middle, puts on brakes, jumps up and tosses it over the top to Rudolph across the back of the EZ.
Fake punt
Milton : 11/17/2021 4:10 pm : link
A punt is absolutely the last thing the defense will expect in this situation and chances are it's not something they ever practiced against. As they finally wraps their heads around what you're doing, you flip the script and throw the ball to the wide open receiver in the end zone! Works every time. Or it would if anyone ever tried it.
Back shoulder is the hardest throw in football
Spiciest Memelord : 11/17/2021 4:15 pm : link
basically a well covered comeback route. Aaron Rodgers has kind of spoiled us, look at how terribly clownish Jordan Love looked throwing it to Adams.
Doesn’t matter what you csll
BillT : 11/17/2021 4:45 pm : link
The defense knows you can’t run well enough to worry them so they pin their ears back on the pass rush and play coverage. The rush gets to Jones in 2 seconds and none of the receivers get open. 2nd and 5. Rinse repeat.

Penny between Rudolph and Thomas on the right side. Don’t get in overload the rights side, ball should be on the right hash. Isolate Toney on left side with and an option route where he can use his quickness to get open.

gain of 1 yard.
Then a 4 wide and pass to a tackle-eligible .
If needed a OG used to being run over falls down, the C pushes his man onto or away from the G. and OUR RB stepson him to vault himself over.

Though there’s a 75% chance of at least one holding call on the series, so with Dixon our secret weapon , given his problems , a pooch punt into the EZ and hope it’s bobbled, then let the fight begin.
Offense by Defense.

Copy the Patriots' playbook.
CT Charlie : 11/18/2021 12:37 am : link
But you've got to coach the crap out of the receivers. The Pats run pick/rub plays beautifully. Somebody is always open, and they're never called for penalties.

I kinda like the jump-pass suggestion, too. The defense will always be looking for DJ on a QB draw up the middle. To stop him, they'll be aiming low and won't put up their hands.
Use QB#2
Adirondack GMen : 11/18/2021 2:24 pm : link
Run Toney on a sweep left and have Rudolph block then drag across the back of end zone in the same direction of Toney.
Defense has to honor Toney speed and how quick he can reverse direction. That would put all eyes in the back field and not Rudolph.

This is a good option. Or go the opposite direction and spread the formation and then run the triple option that they have started to toy with recently.

If Barkley is back to full health, that gives us Penny on a dive, and then isolate the edge to commit to either Jones or Barkley.

We're at DJ's mercy to read the defense, but if he's the guy, he's going to have to do that.
