The Giants can have the next Art Shell and Gene Upshaw. Seriously it would be nice if he can play inside and the Giants can have a power side to run to. Of course some RBs don't go left well.
Thats why its crazy people are talking about him as someone who busted in TEN. He hasnt even gotten started yet. He played 4 snaps, then the Dolphins cut him before he played.
Football-wise hes a 1st round talent and I expect he’ll show that whenever he gets on the field.
How does this Practice Squad business work? Is any team free to claim him, or is he protected?
Any team can sign him, but it has to be to their 53 man active roster. They can not claim him, so he can turn down their offer or give the Giants a chance to match if he wants.
Since he has family and a good support system in the area, it's probably in his best interests to stay with the Giants, so would hopefully give them a chance to sign him before leaving. That said, given his history it seems unlikely another team would sign him to their active roster this year.

I agree with your basic point about bust vs untried, but on the Tennessee equivalent of BBI, I guarantee you that they consider him a bust — just like we consider Erek Flowers a bust, even though he is still in the league and starting for another team. If your team drafts a guy in the first round and he's gone after his rookie year, you consider him a bust. Guys are labeled a bust even if they were injured (Jarrod Bunche) or made second-team All-Pro (David Wilson). Some of that is unfair, but that's the world we live in.
I'm pulling for this Wilson to make it. Kid's had a hard time. He'd be a great story and potentially a welcome addition to the team.
RE: So basically what we should have done with Flowers
that he ever refused to go to Guard. Just did a quick check via google and didn't find anything, though there could be with a more exhaustive search. Do remember the topic being brought up plenty by beats and critics back then, and it was mostly brushed off or concluded that he would have the same problems at Guard as he did at Tackle so that wasn't the solution.
Is the more plausible take that the Giants just disagreed as well that he would be better off at Guard and didn't experiment with it? And when Getts came in, he went shopping for Solder, Omameh and Hernandez so Flowers was simply moved to RT. And when he failed they moved onto to backup Wheeler and got rid of him.
He didn't refuse to play Guard for other teams so why only in NY? I guess he could have been out of options at that point and just finally gave in but only guessing.
Tackles especially Left Tackles were making much more money
Maybe Wilson will get some snaps on Monday night at LG.
Can we please stop with the "We should have moved Flowers to guard" comments?
Flowers made it clear that he was not going to move inside with the Giants and he also admitted that he wanted out of NY. When he was released the Jags picked him up and yet he still played tackle. It was only after his options had dried up at tackle that he agreed to move inside with Washington which ended up saving his career.
...I am really excited for this move. He is still on the practice squad, will he see any game action this season? Thomas/Wilson, on paper would be a real strength.
They probably project him at Guard because they haven't yet given up on Peart being the long term solution at RT.
You don't move a guy to Guard if he has OT skills, especially when you "hope" the other guy will become an above-average starter. OT's are much harder to find. It's likely the Giants didn't think Wilson had the requisite skill level to play OT, or maybe they envision him to be a swing OL.
Yep, you give the OT skills every chance to succeed out there
LT - Andrew Thomas (All Pro)
LG - Shane Lemieux
C - Nick Gates (makes a Seubert-like recovery and continues to kick ass)
RG - Isaiah Wilson (Shawn Andrews/Leonard Davis-like impact up front)
RT - Matt Peart (lives up to the billing and settles in as a pro RT)
Solder will be gone. They could also take a stud OT in the draft and let Peart be the swing T. If Peart's a legit swing T as a 3rd, that's good value IMO.

That is the Best Case Scenario for the Giants OL next year? I hope not.
A few new quality investments shouldn't have much trouble winning jobs from several of the guys noted above.
But I don't think a lot of BBI'ers have been paying attention to the daily media thread.

A big man who can move his feet well enough to pull and get out in front of Barkley is something to behold.
Hope we get to behold minus the hold of course.
Judge has all but said we won't see him until 2022.
(Also, he's still on the PS so he is free to sign with any other team).
Sorry for the remedial question.

We tried but Flowers refused.

Or what, he holds out during a rookie contract or files a grievance with the union?
What leverage would Flowers/Agent have here?
