I think that the Don Brown defenses allowed Michigan to dominate teams with less talent but could not compete with OSU or other teams that had equal or better talent.
I see Mcnamara as the same. A very heady quarterback who allows them to beat teams with less overall talent, but he does not provide the the explosive or deep ball game that they need to match up with a team like OSU that will have possibly 2 receivers taken in the first round of the NFL draft. JJ McCarthy may need more development but he has NFL level skills that Mcnamara does not have and more of a chance of giving Michigan a chance to compete with the big boys.

McNamara, is a player that rarely turns the ball over, rarely makes a mistake, and still has the ability to make big plays. If anything, with him at QB, this is the best chance they have at beating Ohio State than with any of the previous QB's Michigan has had under Harbough. McCarthy's day will come, but would you feel more confident going into next weeks game with the freshman?
