Brady is 5th in the league in yards with completed passes that travel in the air past the LOS.
Seems to be backed up by the over 20-yard completion stats, but I must be watching the wrong Tampa Bay games. I've seen him take some shots, but everything seems to be short to me.
Brady FEASTS off the intermediate middle and checkdowns. This is where he shows great rhythm, timing & accuracy. Unlike most QBs he is happy taking checkdowns all day and will kill you with it.
You made a great point in the review Eric - this is a short thrower vs. a D that traditionally gives the short throw. But Judge/Graham threw Tom a curveball last year and had him slamming his helmet on the ground in frustration.
Graham gave a hint: you force the ball to the outside WRs and mix up your coverage every quarter. This is a bad week not to have Logan Ryan when you're looking to keep him off balance with different looks.
Tough game. And as I've been repeating myself all week: Huge game for Daniel Jones.
Fair and balanced and it actually gave me some hope. Hope that I fully expect to choke on by the third quarter but it's a start!
I know I'm probably putting too much weight on the last game against Washington (I was closely watching because I wanted to scout both teams), but man, I couldn't believe how "timid" the Bucs passing game was (for lack of a better word). The number of 3- and 4-yard pass plays kind of reminded me of the old Dan Reeves days when Dave Brown would complete a 2-yard pass to Howard Cross on 3rd-and-3.
That said, in the clutch, Brady was able to bring his team back, but the Bucs' defense kept giving up drives to Heinke.
They are the world champs. It's Monday night. In their place. But if the Skins can beat them, so can we.
Mostly I want this team to show they’re somewhat in striking distance of where we need to be and that the offense starts looking like a modern offense and a QB we can move forward with, not looking in need of a mulligan at the position.
To me the rest of the season needs to be 100% about
Daniel Jones and Joe Judge, but cannot be measured strictly by wins and losses. That last bit will be strongly disagreed with by some I realize but the truth is this is not a legit playoff roster just yet. We need a new GM we know that already. Now we need to decide about QB and HC.
On offense, only Shepard is out. (See the injury portion of the report).
Quote:
Have 7 or 8 out for the game so we have a great excuse for losing, the new, New York (Excuses) Giants. Featuring the Franchise QB Danny Jones.b

Paul is miserable all the time Eric.

I also read that 1,374 of their passing yards come after the catch. So something doesn't jive.

These numbers seem so enormous because we watch the Giants each week :)
But he is not the most improvisational guy.
If you let him throw in rhythm, you're cooked. He's like a JUGS machine. It will be a perfect throw unless you disrupt him.
And then we'll win...

and it's possible they can lose a third to the Giants.
But I don't think that's gonna be the 2021 narrative for Tampa.
should read "comes off its bye"
