THey almost lost the game going for it on 4th down and their QB got hurt. They could have blown them out instead made it close. At the very least that was a big momentum shift in the game and they needed their running game as back up QB was in for the whole 2nd half. That would never have worked in the NFL btw. Instead it would have been a loss.
This whole going for it on 4th like you are playing Madden football on xbox. We would give each other a hard time in Madden when you went for it on your side of the 50 as coaches never did it back then and was viewed as an amateur thing to do.

Then again constantly going for it on Fourth down it makes for more entertaining football. Especially to the low IQ , instantly gratification fan looking for “action” and the strategy part of the game / chess match part of the game is a non factor to them. Just watch all offense with no defense and games coming down to whoever has the ball last.
Early day drinking
When we held madden football tournaments back in college it was considered an amateur move to go for it on fourth all the time.
