I started a thread about this team several weeks ago. I haven’t seen such a AA powerhouse school out of Section One in a very long time.
They played Christian Brothers Academy today and it was over before it started:
Carmel 51
CBA 7
Next up is the winner of Arlington vs Newburgh (they went into OT today tied 28-28.)
·
Let’s go Tioga Center!!!
Tioga beat Dolgeville 50-12 and next week (Nov. 26th) plays Oakfield-Alabama/Elba.
It probably IS better than the Giants! (:-)
Yep. Arlington went for the win on a 2-point conversion and fell a yard short.
Newburgh is a very fine team, and I mean no disrespect to them in saying they will be walking into a buzz saw next week.
in mid-October.

So, where is that game to be played?

Carmel is an absolute beast this season.
If I’m a betting man (and I ain’t), it’s not a question of whether or not Carmel wins the AA NYS Public High School Football Championship, but rather how severely they mash their next two opponents on the way to their crowning ceremony.
They are the best team I’ve seen since the 2004 team of Ray Rice and Courtney Greene of New Rochelle.

What makes you a Carmel, NY booster or partisan, or just that it is kicking Regionals and States' ass from lil' ol' Section 1?
We were talking about the makeups of the school districts and the geographic areas they serve. Frankly I was surprised little Pleasantville would go this far in Class B but she says they take their ball seriously there.

Thanks, M.S., not beyond the realm of possibility from me. Reffed some college showcase games (footie) at fields in Circleville.

Well… I’m a huge New Rochelle fan (played for them in the early 1970s), but I follow many of the Section One teams, and this season Carmel did to New Rochelle what New Rochelle has been doing to most teams for 20 years — dominate the LOS and impose their will on opponent. What I saw Carmel do New Rochelle just blew me away and I sensed/knew right there and then that this Carmel team was/is very special. So I’ve been sorta following Carmel and maybe just laughing a little to myself as they dismantle one team after the other.

P-Ville won the B State Championship about 4-5 years ago, going undefeated! They take their football very seriously! This season they have a fantastic RB who is playing QB / Wildcat position.

New Rochelle’s long time coach Lou DiRienzo retired a couple of years ago and since then the team has played well, but has also been pummeled a few times under their new coach. And one of those pummelings came at the hands of Carmel.
That's so funny about Dai sushi - our daughter got us take-out from there last night! It was indeed very good.
As for P'ville women's soccer, look out for Shofner granddaughter #1 in about 8 years ...

God willing, I'll still be on the pitch, though quite unlikely. Fair play to her.
