You could say the same thing if you drafted a kid out of county college.
How do you know Jones is any good?
Given the talent he's had, you can't say he's not.
So you - and others - who keep saying Jones sucks, how do we really know? He very well might. But when he hasn't had dick around him for his entire time (some due to injuries, some due to piss poor talent), I'm not ready to pass judgement. I was hoping this year might be the year we could fairly judge him, but we can't. The OL was going to be marginal if everyone was healthy, but it hasn't (including the one guy who seemed solid in Thomas). Golladay, Shep and barkley have been injured (as was expected, unfortunately)
He doesn't show enough. He's barely shown anything. Of course, he'll be better with better players around him. But he's not the kind of QB that ever makes enough plays to be great. It's not just about the scheme and supporting cast, it's about talent. Look at Herbert tonight. That's what we want. A dominating presence. Jones has never, in his career, looked as good as Herbert tonight.
Sigh.
Herbert has significantly better talent around him.
Not to mention a competent playcaller…
When everyone is healthy it isn't much of a talent gap. But seriously, do you not *see* Herbert has more talent? And processes faster? Don't you see it? Jones often has time and doesn't do enough with it. Jones moves and doesn't do enough with it. Are you not seeing something that is obviously true?

The fucking burden of proof is on him! You could grab any asshole off the street, start him at quarterback, and say he doesn't have enough help.
This is the NFL, a competitive business. It isn't a rec league for 6 year olds.
The burden is on him to prove he’s a legit QB when he’s got shit at all the skill positions (when golladay and Barkley are sidelined), shit on OL (especially when Thomas is out) and has butterfingers at TE? And a shit Playcaller for the icing on top?
Lol. Let’s see how Mahomes, Herbert et al would do with this group.
Or better yet, let’s see how Jones would do on those teams.
Games don't get played out in an alternate universe where everything is perfect. Maybe John Ross would have been Marvin Harrison if he'd been drafted by a different team and stayed healthy. Maybe Lorenzo Carter would have been much better on a different defense and without the injury.
So what? Here in the real world those guys are mediocre. So is Jones.

Stop making me gag. Mahomes and Herbert would do much better than Jones with any group. They are much, much more talented than him. Are you this delusional? You think Jones can hang with these guys? Jones tries hard and he's a gamer but he can't throw with them and he doesn't have their instincts for the position. You talk about what observers say, you can't find an observer who would rate Jones in those categories with Mahomes and Herbert. None. Nobody thinks Jones can be as good as these guys. They say maybe they can win with him, if he has a great supporting cast.
Because that is an iconic example of bad management.
The fact is jones was never good enough to be a QB that Reid wanted or anyone for that matter. Maybe Elway wanted him in Denver. Jones I a third round pick in a normal draft class — and I’m dieing on that hill — he doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt . Any third round pick would look better with a better surrounding cast. And most whondraft QBs that late develop them into a system with skilled players drafted correctly carry some of the burden. Jones was drafted 6 overall and has shown nothing special. So what does it matter if he could play better on the LARams not that I believe that

Again, I don’t see why this comment is polarizing. It’s completely fair based on the results. Where are the touchdowns? Where is the production?
Even in 2019, the majority of production came in a few games. (TB, NYJ, WFT)

You’re a broken record. You bore me. No gives a shit about how you and your two clown buddies feel about Daniel Jones. The fact that you just can’t stop repeating yourselves tells me all I need to know about you

The funny thing is that from your previous comments it is pretty clear you agree that Jones is inadequate. Why you are afraid to speak the truth or be real about your opinion is a mystery. This is a Giants board. Where else are you going to be real about the Giants.
It's pretty good. New guard/old guard. Serious playoff implications.
Dak, IMV, has done more than enough to earn the benefit of the doubt. Jones hasn't.
I do agree that Jones hasn't been dealt the best hand. But I'm still not sure he's the solution, either.
Frankly, I watch him hoping to see something where I say, "Wow, that was different. That's what we need..."
Have you ever said that? More than once? Twice?
Dak has one playoff win and consistently loses to good teams. I’ll tell what he is good at and that is compiling great stats. Even Dallas fans realize his limitations. You can have him @ $40M.
Can you answer my question on Jones, please? Have you ever seen anything special in his play that gave you confidence he's got what it takes to be a legit franchise QB?
As for Dak, I think the Joneses got taken to the cleaners by Team Dak. They completely misplayed that situation.
I've never said Dak was in the same stratosphere as Rodgers, Mahomes, Brady, Wilson. But he's in that next tranche that make up the rest of the top ten.

What a stupid Sunday night game

Ben is washed and the Steelers Defense is missing most of its starters.
It was over before the whistle blew.
But one thing I am sure about is the DG should never be allowed to make another personnel decision.
He’s like Bruce Willis in the sixth sense. He just can’t see that the game has passed him by.
1 point away from a tie
NFL doesn't care.
That was honestly insane. I can’t believe Al and Chris didn’t speak on that more they were just praising him for making a hustle play. So weird the OL was trying to life Hayward off of Herbert so he got pissed and decided to roll him over and start punching him in the stomach? What a psycho. It’s not even like Herbert did anything, if you have issue with the dude grabbing you take it up with him, don’t just start mindlessly punching the QB in the midsection lmao
Btw these missed helmet to helmet calls are brutal. The one on Najee and then the one on the DB who intercepted the ball. Just clear targeting with the helmet on the 2nd one and putting the full weight of his 300 lb body into the dudes head/neck at an awkward angle— he literally couldn’t broken his neck. And the one to Najee Harris was crazy too— the dude literally did like a flying elbow leap launched directly into his chin/throat and causing his head to bounce off the turf. Both of those plays seemed pretty intentionally dirty to me. And both came at a point where the guy was already going to the ground or on the ground.
Terrible call to go there. Fucking terrible
He has to get fined for that
What the fuck was that? We’re they trying a hook and lateral?
yes .. going for it was right. I would have preferred a play action.

Guess they figured based on the 2 sacks right before they didn’t have time to let the receivers run 30 yards. And yet Ben still rushed the throw because he was clearly seeing ghosts after those first 2 plays
I’m not saying it’s all on Garrett, he’s also trying to run an offense with an incompetent OL..
Am I then only one who is so sick and tired of hearing this? This team made the playoffs one year in the last five with a dipshit mcadoo whose offense looked something like a local high school coach was doing. Same formation ; same personnel package 90 percent if not more of the time.
A bunch of arm chair QBs who never played a snap in their life makenyou tune vids and now that becomes the narrative? I’m not crazy about garret but he is easily the most accomplished coach giants have had since TC.
Colt McCoy is obviously just one of another long list of backup QBs that could give Jones a run for his money. He played well against a better Seahawks team last year. His numbers were not great but he made the throws when they counted.

If he's better than Jones, why didn't we keep him?

Never said he was better. I just think the vast majority of BBIers have a pumped up view of Jones. He fits right in with many of the leagues back ups.
Let me ask you this -- do you really have faith in Gettel's ability to evaluate talent? At this point we are sort of stuck with him. What have you seen in Jones that indicates he is top level starting QB talent?
It's ok for people to be optimistic based on those factors improving. Just as it's OK for you to think he sucks and will never be good.
The thing that really phucquing BLOWS? Is that we have to see 4 or 5 of you swoop in proclaiming how much he sucks for 150,000 posts in every G*d*mn thread. I mean we get it. But holy shit! Enough on EVERY friggen thread already.
