The reporters don't think he will play. But Judge said yesterday that there is still a chance and implied they have made arrangements to fly him down separately if he passes the latest test.
What's weird is the team ruled him "out" but are still saying he might play. I've never seen that before. I didn't think a player could play once he was ruled out.
The Gold standard COVID test is the PCR. Others are not reliable. But even the PCR test is problematic.
PCT tests for viral RNA particles (virus do not have DNA). The PCR test amplifies the sensitivity to those RNA particles numerous times until a minute portion of RNA is detected. The number of amplifications is called the Cyclic Threshold (CT).
Any positive PCR test with a Cyclic Threshold above 33 does not contain actual virus that can be cultured and infect individuals. Unfortunately public health officials use levels between CT40 and CT45 to report positive COVID PCR tests even though those levels are not in the ranges to cause infection and merely show presence of viral RNA debris.
So an individual can test positive and not be sick or infectious.
I believe last year the NFL used different PCR CT levels to report positive tests, this the confusion.
RE: RE: there is something I am not getting about this situation..
If he passed the test this morning and then passes one tomorrow morning, he is ok to play. Not that likely according to Judge, which is why they said he is Out, but also surprised they didn’t go with Doubtful.
Not sure if no news is good news or not.
PCR tests are more accurate than antigen tests, which are the ones the labs had a problem with a week or two ago.

If so how does a person not have Covid 2 days later and acquire the ability to achieve 2 negative tests?
Confused or stupid in Maine...Happy Thanksgiving.
I want him to play BTW

It's pretty clear the Giants don't trust the COVID tests.

NFL rules are if you’re vaccinated and you can post two back to back negative tests, you are cleared.
Unvaccinated and it’s a 10 day wait no matter what.
