Tennessee loses to Houston?
What happened to Buffalo?
Dallas looks like a pretender now.
Buffalo went from AFC favorite for SB to can they make the playoffs....loss to Jacksonville?!?!?
Arizona keeps wining though they cannot stay healthy.
Its wide open with no real favorite. I cannot remember a season like this through the mid point like this in my lifetime.
Don't fall victim to the same problems the "experts" have in evaluating sports.
This. Really aren't any true great teams and seems like there's a ton of just trash out there.
Parody doesn’t equal quality. The NFLs #1 attraction is gambling everything else is a distant 2nd. They do not care if the games are good or if players are getting rest, or if officiating is bad.
A couple of teams will get hot and seem inevitable. Happens every year.
in 89 the f ing 49ers were going to most likely win it
now we cannot even bank on any team weekly.
not a bad thing IMO
New England did not have their best team and made it through the AFC beating Mariota and Bortles.
NFC championship featured Keenum vs Foles.
That was a strange year.
This year hasn't been as bad, but a lot of upsets so far. I think it says more about the parody in the league.
Ultimately, I think this season comes down to Green Bay, Tampa, Kansas City, New England, and the LA Teams.
Not only that, but style/personnel matchups mean more now than ever. The old "we're onto Cincinnati" adage rings true.
This season is AWESOME ... because the parody is so close.
And was followed by:
Parody doesn’t equal quality.
All I got to say is parody isn't parity.
It's also a decades-long effort toward promoting parity. TNF and the other factors you mentioned definitely contribute to that, but this is really the desired effect in a salary cap league, particularly when the salary cap gets squeezed as it has in the past two seasons (and this is obviously a COVID effect, so that is consistent with the point you're making).
That's the NFL's goal.
You'll find out on Feb 13th.
I hate to say this but the NFL is alive and well. It aint your daddy's NFL or even my NFL from the 80s but it's still doing just fine.
It has been that for decades. You just feel more inclined to complain now.
2. They have significantly upgraded what is cause for a penalty. They changed the rules on how to defend a wide receiver which has led to more defensive holding and pass interference plays. They have changed the rules on tackling. They have changed the rules on protecting the QB.
So, no I don't think it's just about feeling "more inclined to complain now" without cause or reason. There are notable difference to "decades" ago.
The NFC...I have no clue. Gun to head...I will take Packers, but who knows? Arizona has best record, but loss to GB. The Bucs are the defending champions & have the GOAT. The Rams have looked meh of late. Dallas didn't look good vs. KC.
