Just boil them until fork tender. In frying pan with lots of butter add brown sugar. Add in the sweet potatoes and cook them in pan for a bit. Use some of the boiled water to keep it from getting to thick. A pinch of salt will be a nice touch.
This is super easy and IMO a lot better than marshmallows.
