NFT: Ghostbusters: After Life (No SPOILERS but may if comment)

Mr. Nickels : 11/22/2021 12:28 am
If you were a fan of the original this was a must see. SOOO well done. People were clapping in my theater at the end. REALLY fun movie. Shame it didn't come out in the summer but apropos came out for Harold's birthday. Take your kids if you have them. Loved it! After disappointments with Sopranos and Bond this was a relief and real crowd pleaser.
I really liked it.

My son who is 6 loved it.

I saw it and as a self proclaimed amateur critic I gave my first 10 of the year. Movie was absolute perfection from top to bottom, the kids rocked it and the young girl who played the granddaughter stole the show. She is going to be a force as an actress for a long time in the industry. I’m going again to see it and then I’m taking my kiddos after my second watch. Flat out loved it and it absolutely is a must see
Absolutely awesome

in every way! I am huge fan of the originals, my absolute favorite thing as a kid and this did not disappoint. I thought it was a perfect addition to the Ghostbuster saga. Such a gut punch right in the feels department. But you're right the granddaughter was excellent! So good, will be seeing again.
I hope everyone

stayed for BOTH after credit scenes.
The original is one of my all time favorites
PA Aggie : 11/22/2021 7:51 am : link
It was on yesterday, watched the whole thing...probably the 50th time at least.

As soon as I saw the ad for the new one, I said to my wife we are going to a theater to see it (we rarely go to theaters for movies). Glad to hear BBI gave rave reviews.
Fantastic movie.

A beautiful tribute to Harold Ramis.

And yes, there are TWO after credit scenes.

There was after credit scenes?

We need a spoilers thread because I missed the scenes.

Spoilers.. highlight.

The first end credit scene was Sigourney Weaver doing the rorschach test to Bill Murray. The same thing Bill did in Ghostbusters 1 where he shocks the male participant.

The second scene was Winston buying the old Firehouse and the storage unit light where they stored ghosts was beeping red. I'm guessing maybe a setup for another movie?
Really

good! I'm glad they didn't ruin Ghostbusters like they did with Star Wars.

I felt reassured when Dan Akroyd came out and said that Jason Reitman had a wonderful script and was doing it right. He wasn't wrong.

My wife and kids watched the 2 original Ghostbusters (and even the 2016 one) the week leading up to it, which I recommend doing, especially the first one. Lots of little call backs that you would miss otherwise.

How is it for kids?
AJ23 : 11/22/2021 9:57 am : link
My son became obsessed with Ghostbusters (the original) around Halloween, but that's PG. Convincing the wife he can see PG-13 is another thing.

Well there's no ghosts giving blowjobs in this movie like Ghostbusters 1. I think you'll be fine.

The original would have been PG13 (“it’s true….this man has no dick”) but that rating wasn’t invented until after the movie was released

Haven’t seen it yet but from what I’ve heard tons of folks are bringing their kiddos and they are loving it
Definitely bring the kids
Fat Wally : 11/22/2021 11:11 am : link
The only thing that would concern me is it might be a little scary. No adult themes like in the first one! lol.
My family

And I loved it. Took my 6 year old for his birthday. He loves the ghostbusters and loved this one too.

I'm shocked rotten tomatoes has the 2016 ghostbusters reboot rated higher than this one.

There's a few bad words but nothing crazy.
Yeah, I almost went last night
Johnny5 : 11/22/2021 11:59 am : link
But decided to watch the later game. I am going to go this week. Excited to see it.
Since my kids didn't have a friends birthday party this year
aimrocky : 11/22/2021 12:10 pm : link
my wife decided to rent a theater for Ghostbusters. Problem is that it's in 3 weeks. I'd assume Ghostbusters will still be in theaters by then. I asked her Friday night if we could take the kids, and she shot me down claiming that she wants the rented theater experience to be at it's finest.

My son is 6 and he's been obsessed with Ghostbusters for about 2 years, so he's all wound up to see this.
taking the wife Wednesday morning
UConn4523 : 11/22/2021 12:19 pm : link
she's pumped for it as am I.
Definitely gonna check it out in the next week or so.
bceagle05 : 11/22/2021 12:22 pm : link
Critics don't seem thrilled with it but all the fan reviews I've heard/read were overwhelmingly positive.

I kind of look at it like Bill and Ted. That movie was PHUCQING awful. And I loved every single minute of it... lol

And I'm guessing it has to be A LOT better than that movie.
I'm sure it's good.
bceagle05 : 11/22/2021 12:29 pm : link
Theory among some fans is there's still hard feelings over how the 2016 movie was received, so critics may be taking that out on this new one.

I've heard a few spoilers but don't even care - Ghostbusters (1984) is easily a top five favorite movie for me, so I can't wait to hear Ecto-1's siren, some of the old movie score, and of course the OGs back in action.
Reitman is a good director
UConn4523 : 11/22/2021 12:30 pm : link
so even if you don't love it i'd be shocked if you hate it. He's got a pretty impressive resume - "Thank you for smoking", "up in the air, "Juno", "Whiplash", and "Tully". It currently has the highest audience score out of all his movies (likely to come down as time goes on but it will be up there).
Agreed
Johnny5 : 11/22/2021 12:30 pm : link
It's all (well a lot) about the Nostalgia. I'm pumped and I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

and loved it! Hasbro is coming out with a 1 to 1 model of the proton pack which is awesome! I didn't know they had two after credit scenes.

And watching the game on gamepass when I get back. I have a full night planned!
Saw this last night and loved it.

Obviously a few corny lines/moments but that is to be expected. Wasn’t expecting so much emotion at the end! Very nice tribute.
Saw it yesterday morning

was really well done. Perfect mix of nostalgia with a fresh story.
Really enjoyed it, and so did the kids
Greg from LI : 11/26/2021 1:55 am : link
They created something fresh while still throwing in plenty of nods to the original.
