Maybe the NFC East is no longer the NFC Least

M.S. : 11/22/2021 10:04 am

Net Wins Over losses; Net Point Differential

NFC East: -2 Wins; +24 Net Points
NFC North: -8 Wins; -144 Net Points
NFC South: 0 Wins; -4 Net Points
NFC West: +2 Wins; +161 Net Points

AFC East: -4 Wins; +32 Net Points
AFC North: +8 Wins; +50 Net Points
AFC South: -6 Wins; -132 Net Points
AFC West: +5 Wins; +4 Net Points

The stuff is all cyclical

anyway. Usually, divisions are good or bad based upon their out of division games. This year we are playing the NFC South and AFC West. Lots of points to be had in those games and much weaker than anticipated. I usually do not read into division being classified as strong or weak. I think there are some divisions, such as the NFC West and AFC North that look particularly strong, but I just think an unbalanced schedule makes things hard to judge.
Well, the NY Giants are -3 on games and -37 on points

Probably better than the AFC South

Yea, we suck.

Suck is what the Giants do well.

Maybe a new franchise name is in order, like the "New Jersey Sucks."

Why because the Eagles beat the Lions, Denver without their two starting Offensive Tackles, and the Saints without Winston, Kimara, Thomas, and their two starting offensive tackles?

The Eagles are a juggernaut now?

Call me a Cockeyed Optimist, but you can't disregard the FACT** that we are 2 offsides away from being 5-4. That lifts us from "sucks" all the way up to mediocre. And we haven't sniffed mediocre in a while, so it's a step...

** "Realists" might say that we wouldn't have beaten KC nonetheless - point of debate. The pic should have sealed it with the time remaining.

Hurts is a frustrating QB to play.
Buys time in the the pocket.
Will run for first downs on third down.
Not careless with the ball.
Jones is an excellent runner but does not protect himself well.He often leads with his head.
Hurts protects himself.

pivo -- I like your perspective. The Dexter offsides that snatched defeat out of the jaws of victory still bothers me. A lot.

Without all the crazy O-line injuries, I think our record would be better. But the biggest downside to all these injuries is not IMO the lousy record, but rather being put in a position where the Giants cannot fairly assess whether or not Daniel Jones is the long term answer.
You can do the should be 5-4
ajr2456 : 11/22/2021 11:30 am : link
If we didn’t go offsides. But you can also do the “shoulda haves” with New Orleans and Raiders, and we’d be 1-8.

End of the day they lost those games and if the team was good they wouldn’t have even been in the situation that those offsides mattered.
The could've and should'ves around here can talk themselves
Jimmy Googs : 11/22/2021 11:53 am : link
into anything. Been going on here since Eli held up that last Lombardi.

Even the 48-yard missed field goal by WFT that they got to re-kick a bit closer. Yes, it was a disappointing result, but NFL kickers will make the 48 yard FG way more often than not anyway so...
Certainly a down cycle
Lines of Scrimmage : 11/22/2021 12:11 pm : link
and the Giants and Redskins lead that effort. In the Super Bowl era it is still the best division and not sure it is very close. It will be back again.

Hi pivo,

Just one thing that people don't seem to understand/remember, Mahomes only threw that INT because it was a free play. So the INT wouldn't exist anyway.

But the Giants should've found a way to win at least 2 of the 3 games vs KC, WTF and ATL.

I don't know if that is true. He clearly had a window, Holmes an excelent recovery play. I can't say Mahommes would not have thrown it if he didn't know he had a free play.

it bothered me that the numbers for win loss differential given above was mathematically impossible.

I checked and found the typo in the original post. The NFC West is plus 7.

Mahomes head down was heading to the bench, he thought he had thrown an interception.

Hi Joe,

Had to rewatch it to be sure my mind wasn't misremembering it, but after seeing the broadcast angle, and both All-22 angles, Mahomes is pointing at the flag half a second after he threw the pass.

He never "head down was heading to the bench", now I cannot be completely sure if he knew about the offsides cause his eyes weren't looking directly at it, but normally QB's of his caliber have a pretty good sense of when they have a free play and that pass looks realy reckless.

Regardless, even if the INT stands it's not game over like the WFT game. There was 4:22 on the clock and KC had 2 timeouts.
Imagine how good the division would look if
