The Giants' five biggest problems do not include the quarterback. Of course, they do include Gettlemen, whose pick of Barkley prevented the pick of a better quarterback, and saddled us with a running back who will end up making some "worst draft picks of all time" lists.
because how else does a guy with such a thin resume get to be coach. Remember when he was the next John Harbaugh? I honestly think that press was all just to save face because no one good wanted the job. Why would they if they're going to be chained to a buffoon for a GM?
And the candidate pool isn't going to be any better next time around when Mara handpicks Abrams to be GM. Who the hell would want to tie their fortunes to a cap guru who has no cap space?
It's funny, my wife is a die-hard Jets fan (her family had season tix). She makes fun of me, how I always think the Giants are going to turn their season around. She's like "bless your heart, you just haven't admitted that you root for a terrible team, like me." She's right. Giants are a shit franchise, we just haven't admitted it yet.
Good article - only the Oline should be #2 on the list
Many of the failings of the team over the past 4 years (and prior) start and end with the Oline. They ruined the end of of Eli's career, and have destroyed whatever chance Jones would have had to be successful.
DG is going to leave as a disgrace, and the past 6 years have been brutal for this organization, both prior to his arrival and his 4 year tenure.
Item #4 - I said the same thing in the Fire Garrett thread. He just does not know how the run an offense. Watching that, it seemed that Tampa knew what he was doing on every play.
Dallas and WFT seem to know how to get out of CAP trouble. The Giants will need to find someone that can do that.
Mara and Tisch should fire DG and Abrams today. Judge should fire Garrett and turn it over to Kitchens.

Dallas, at least, gets out of it because they are great at drafting. We are miserable there.
RE: Gettleman is the cause of every problem on the list
You could have a masters class on what not to do as a GM over his four years.
Complete failure of imagination in hiring Gettleman. I want to know what the rationale was for that hire other than Ernie Accorsi vouching for him (after not doing it the first time). Understanding that Giants coaching hires are consensus-driven, I want to know how DG survived the Shurmur hire.

I was rooting for the Giants to draft Barkley, but I agree that we should not be offering Barkley a second contract. That said, if we had drafted a QB, it probably would have been Darnold. So nothing gained there. And while I agree now that it was the wrong pick (would have rather drafted Nelson), his rookie season alone would keep him from ever being on a "worst draft picks of all time" list.
When DG came in, along with Shurmur, it was the beginning of a new era. Out with Reese and incompetent coaching. Fans got caught up in the new car smell. New leadership, a shiny toy in the draft, a new face for the media. Hog mollies were going to be the norm. But here we are again. The new car smell faded once the car drove off the lot. They can't win and rebuild at the same time. One or the other, but not both. It's time to tear it down to the studs and really rebuild. That means the fanbase will endure some lean years. But at least there will be a focus of actually building a foundation instead of throwing money and high draft capital at a problem.
It sure does.. I've been saying this even before the season started. This team is built bad.. DG = Failure.
No heart, no passion, nothing.
Shambles.
When does Mara say enough already?
Just the facts.

100%
He looked pretty good last season when Garrett was out with Covid. Just more open and aggressive and that was with McCoy at QB.

Very little. I guess the best that can be said is that he's not Jason Garrett.
Scathing is what you will read on BBI today...
But we're going to have to settle for letting his contract expire instead.
