Ranking the NFC QBs...

bw in dc : 11/23/2021 7:16 am
Well, given the lack of production individually, and that the team is now scoring & lt; 19 PPG (25th/NFL), it's hard not to place Jones 4th.

So for me:

1. Dak (135th pick/2016); 51.3 QBR, 20/7, 70%, 7.8 YPA, 1 TD rushing

2. Hurts (53rd pick/2020); 52 QBR, 13/5, 62%, 7.2 YPA, 8 TDs rushing

3. Heinicke (UDFA/2015); 49 QBR, 15/9, 66%, 7.3 YPA, 1 TD rushing

4. Jones (6th pick/2019); 41 QBR, 9/7, 64%, 6.7 YPA, 2 TD rushing

Jones is just going the wrong way right now. His last five QBRs are 15, 43, 37, 42 and 6. And the team is averaging only 17 PPG in that stretch.

At this putrid pace, Jones is going to end up with 15 passing TDs for the year. Brutally bad.

Should read...

The NFCE QBs...
Heinicke moved the ball against Tampa..

Jones is clearly the worst QB in the division yet he was the highest drafted by far. Brutal.
The sad thing is that he will be our QB for one more year
Rick in Dallas : 11/23/2021 7:20 am : link
I will lose my mind if they exercise his option year next May.
Time to find his replacement whether it's through the draft(not excited about this QB class),trade or free agency.
This whole roster is a mess not just Jones.

That is the killer. We have the 6th pick; yet, he's by far the least productive of the four.
Four division games left

so we all get to see Jones and against all these QB'. I think the division games are very big for Jones and Judge moving forward.

Don't know how others feel but I do not see any of these QB's ever being QB's you go into the playoffs thinking you have a great chance either today or in future years.

... Dak? Come on now
15 TD passes

would be an improvement from last year.

Isnt that good?
Heineken
SFGFNCGiantsFan : 11/23/2021 8:50 am : link
Is better than the QB drafted 6th overall. Hahaha.
Just because you draft a 2nd/3rd round guy at #6
Metnut : 11/23/2021 8:51 am : link
doesn’t mean he’s going to produce at the level he was picked at. Giants have made zero progress under Gettleman. In fact, they’ve gone backwards when you consider how badly he’s left our cap situation.

Yeah, things like that are very frustrating. A guy like Heinicke, despite his size and limitations, just looks the part more than Jones. He's just a gamer who always seems to find a way.

Unfortunately, I don't think there is a dispute on that. Which is why it's hard to argue at this point that Jones is the worst QB in the NFCE right now.

Our previous QB draftee tried to find a way also, but the cops kept pulling him over on 495 for doing it.

Kyle Lauletta - another Gettleman diamond in the 2018 draft.

And Hurts - right?
you know what's sad?

The best pass of our season was an incompletion from our WR (Toney to Slayton on MNF) and it isn't even close.

The almost from Jones to Slayton on MNF v WFT stands out, too.

Meanwhile, Andrew Thomas has more TDs than Gollaway and Toney - combined.
There's only one surefire great QB in the division

The other three are all bad, imo.

Heinicke is having a good run but he isn't a good QB. He has played better than Jones this season, and the ranks bare this out. He's a Keenum or a Minshew on a solid run. You could do way worse than him, but ultimately he is not a QB of a winning team.

Hurts is on a nice run as well and the Eagles are winning mainly by running the ball. But is he special and can he sustain his winning ways? I don't think he is a long term answer.

So I really don't think there is that much difference between the bottom three. Maybe based on the recent run of play I would say:

1. Dak
2. Hurts
3. Heinicke
4. Jones

But really only Dak is a keeper, imo.

I agree that Dak is the only franchise QB in the NFCE. But I admire the efforts of Hurts and Heinicke. They are making plays and scoring points. Hell, can you believe the Eagles are now 8th in PPG?? Just incredible.

I remember a thread or two in the offseason about who was the second best QB in the NFCE - assuming Dak as the clear-cut #1. I didn't like Hurts at all and buried him at #4. And because of Fitz's wild mood swings on a field, I figured he would offset his wins with his boneheaded plays for losses. So I defaulted to Jones as the de facto #2.

Six months later, Jones is clearly #4. Without dispute.

Hurts is on some magic carpet ride. The chance he emerges as a solid QB is greater than the other two, for sure. But his throwing, in isolation, is the worst in the division. Can he improve that or can he overcome that? It's a new era for QB play, and he makes an interesting test case. More like him are coming.
