There is definitely time to get him into the game before season ends. I’m not buying the fact he needs an entire season to get into football shape. We need to see him at guard this season. Still, we need to draft at the very least 2 lineman with the first 3 picks in the draft
gates may never play again, or at best go the seubert route which took years for his recovery
wilson is literally on the practice squad and is too fat to play
peart i think can hang as the backup swing tackle for now
this team needs to add 4 OL this offseason. at least 1 first round pick needs to be used along with multiple other picks
i would also argue that G and C are more important than OT. you cannot function with pressure right up the middle. the iowa center must be prioritized in the draft
Bredeson is a backup level player. He’s should be nowhere near a starting job and he’s a RG not a LG on top of that. Wilson cannot be counted one either. He’s a long shot rehab project. Gates is the one you have to hope comes back. Without that it’s too much to do in one season.
Why is Wilson a long term project?
He played well enough in college to be one of the first 32 players off the board. He has played well.
Few offensive lineman appear to be at ideal body weight and he has slimmed down.
The only way to see how his abilities affect the number of offensive lineman the the team needs next year is to put him on the field.

He bombed his first two(?) chances and was hugely overweight even when he came here. Look, I have high hopes for him but he’s in the “show me” category. You can’t plan on him as a starter.
should be counted on for more than anything but OL depth. I think BBI greatly overrates the guy who is on IR, and hasn't shown just how much he sucks yet. Isaiah Wilson is a pipe dream. Maybe he pans out, but I would be nervous as hell penciling him in as a starter. And Gates suffered a catastrophic break. Yeah, Rich Seubert came back from a similar injury, but that was considered a minor miracle for a reason.
We need a complete rebuild. We have one (very good) cornerstone in Thomas. Every other spot, and I mean every one, is up for grabs. If someone like Peart, or Wilson come in and win it, more power to them, but I'm not planning on it. In any case, I'm bringing in young bodies to compete.
With Peart backing up both T's and a prospective third-round choice Cade Mays backing up both G's
Obviously, we use our first two draft picks on Linderbaum and Ekwonu.
This approach would require a commitment to solving the OL once and for all through the draft with premium draft choices.
The opportunity cost would be missing out on a potentially quality ER or ILB at the top of the draft. But drafting into the strength of the upcoming Draft in an area of dire need might have our OL looking like the Cowboys OL in time given that an investment is made in potential OL foundation pieces e.g. Ekwonu and Linderbaum to join with Thomas.
We would still retain a multitude of draft picks to address these positions of need but there is always the hope that a quality FA ER could be induced to come to NJ

OG Lemuix vs Rookie vs Wilson vs FA (best 2 start)
OC Rookie vs Gates (have Lemuix take reps at C due to Gates health)
RT Rookie vs Peart
No competition for Thomas
Hopefully Peart vs Evan Neal if Peart pans out kick Neal inside for now
Hopefully a C falls second round that can start
Best case Neal and Edge 1st roundt ... Then OC or OG that can start second round
