spotrac over the cap

Hilary : 11/23/2021 12:52 pm
The giant caps space for next year is third worst in the league

possible targets/savings

Solder salary 18 dead money 4 gone
Shepherd salary 12.5 dead money 7.8 likely gone (health not
performance)
Rudolph salary 7.2 dead money 2.25 likely gone
X man salary 1.2 dead money 202,000 gone

Martinez and Bradbury have big numbers but cutting them would create more holes to fill.

Not a pretty picture

Improvement will have to come from return of injured players and the draft
John Mara

In charge of a Billion dollar Lemonade stand.
And those top four should be gone. And Rudolph has to be the slowest

player in the NFL.
I’d take a look at Dixon’s number
Biteymax22 : 11/23/2021 1:11 pm : link
Higher than you think and he hasn’t played well
Nate Solder contract is armed robbery
90.Cal : 11/23/2021 1:20 pm : link
Worse contract in Giants history
Barkley needs to be traded for whatever

we can get.

We might need to package picks this year for picks in 2023 when we will have more cap space to really do something with the picks. UGH>

The money is in the banana stand.
Spotrac is innaccurate

They'd save

nothing for cutting Solder (should do it anyway)
5 for cutting Rudolph
4.5 for Shep
~1 mil for Ximines
3.25 for Dixon
~ 1 mil for Wes Martin (who?)

Those moves combined bring them to 18mil.

Spotrac is notoriously inaccurate.

As an example, as part of the restructuring, Solder’s 2022 was voided. He will cost the 4M of amortized bonus, in dead money.

Always refer to OTC for more accurate cap information on the Giants.
Your numbers are wrong
BillT : 11/23/2021 2:13 pm : link
Solder will count.$4m in dead money next year. It’s a void year.
Martinez would be a $14 million cap hit
jeff57 : 11/23/2021 2:18 pm : link
5.5 in dead money. He can’t stay on that salary.
Absolutely

shameful.
I remember seeing our cap numbers before the season kicked off

And we were looking decent going into the season with 2023 having lots of room also. How did we go from best to nearly last and the team hasn't changed much at all. I think we stink at signing free agents.

Part of JJ ‘ building a team’ was to clone BB: young players, extra picks, flipping players as necessary with no loyalty.
The 20, 21, and 22 draft picks will play. If J J is gone, and likely DG as well, the new GM will run with that philosophy. There is a nice, small core of players to start with, hopefully Robinson , Williams nudging moving on fro Bradbury or Jackson and their contracts, Smith an adequate+ ER, and a WR to move on from KG and HIS contract.
