Anyone get the impression Garrett just wasn't into this job?

Essex : 11/23/2021 1:36 pm
He got this job immediately on the rebound of being a HC, he never seems excited (maybe that is just him), the offense always seems non-plus. I just never got the impression he was into this gig.
You could be right.

You could also be describing the entire team's effort last night. They just weren't into it.

I've always kinda felt that way too.
yes

always felt like a back up gig to him. Which now makes him look even worse. Good luck finding another job any time soon.

As shitty as we've been, our offense got worse under Garrett and he had more weapons than Shurmur ever had.
Thats exactly what I have been posting here for a while

He is a Cowboy to the bone

A VERY VERY bad fit for the Giants

When we scored he looked miserable

When we lost he had that stupid poker face on

I'd rather have hired DeShaun Jackson to be our OC

Yup every

Week took them long enough to figure it out
Not just Garrett

but I question the whole staff. JJ's staff has to be one of the riches staffs in the NFL. Many have reached a level of success that they have made good $$ like JG and Freddy Kitchens. I question if they truly have the fire-in-the-belly approach like a staff of up and coming staff would otherwise have.

I doubt he planned on being in the job long

I still think he had to of believed Jones would enable him to become a HC again fairly quickly. Then Judge dumped his OL selection. I am more surprised it took this long as Judge seemed to lay the groundwork reassigning Freddie. My guess is with all the offensive injuries Judge was hoping to give him more of a chance.

Then last week while being honest he took a shot at where the Giants stood on the OL.
I don't think he liked Judge

but that's understandable
9 years a HC.

55 years old, and now works for a kid. No, I'm sure he's f'en delighted!

I thought then and think now that both Garrett and Kitchens were viewed by management as training wheels for Judge, and possible replacements if Judge was thought not up to the job. Could be he took the job with that in mind.
Come on, guys.

How would he expect to get another head coaching job if he just mailed it in as an OC? He just wasn't that good at it. Keep in mind that the Cowboys did better when he was head coach and not calling the plays.

Not only that (training wheels for Judge). But I'm sure Kitchens and Garrett never liked being next to each other either. They seem like completely different people. Only Mara would thing that was a hierarchy destined for success.

Not really....as others have alluded he seemed to still work for Jerrrrahh

his play calling was absolutely atrocious
Abso-fucking-lutely.
mittenedman : 11/23/2021 4:32 pm : link
The problem for him is, he has very likely damaged his career by taking it.
He never wanted to be an OC.
Ten Ton Hammer : 11/23/2021 4:33 pm : link
He wanted a HC gig.
It kind of surprised me when he took this gig.

If I had just spent 15 years dealing with Jerry Jones' BS I would probably take a year off to enjoy my money before jumping back in especially for something less than a HC job.
