Gettleman

BigBlueJ : 11/23/2021 9:17 pm
How the hell is this asshole escaping accountability for the malpractice he set up this organization with. If you are going to sit there and fire Jason Garrett for not "fixing" your failed draft picks and off season acquisitions with your MILLIONS of dollars how is he not unceremoniously fired for this fraud. Is Mara really going to give this guy a soft landing?
I'm so glad someone broke the ice and decided to start a thread on

Doesn't make

sense for anything to happen with him just yet.
It’s not about Gettleman anymore

He’s gone. The issue is Abrams.
Well - you got a point

The OL has not come together. The big pieces have been seen playing matador more than their positions. If I’m him I retire
Give it time
GiantTuff1 : 11/23/2021 9:23 pm : link
The sad part is Gettleman is going to get the nicety of the same fake retirement send off as Coughlin and he’s done nothing to deserve it with his current tenure.
To me it is not
BigBlueJ : 11/23/2021 9:25 pm : link
about him being gone at the end of the year. It is about firing someone for incompetence. If you can fire the OC in a lost season because of it why not Gentleman. You didn't have to fire Jason, they could have taken away playcall duties and keep him on staff. But Mara allowed Judge to get his pound of flesh.

Yeah, but firing DG would make Mara look bad for hiring him.

Not. Gonna. Happen.

not sure you REALLY want Gettleman to be fired right now.

If they fire Gettleman right now, the new GM will be Abrams.

If they wait, it might not. (Though if I were a betting man...)

If Abrams is our next GM, then we should all play golf on Sundays for the next decade
Gettleman is as good as gone

and I hope the entire organization is wiped clean. No more half-assed rebuilds.

Judge should be gone as well. Bring in a GM to run the football operations and let him pick his scouting department, front office, and coaching staff.

Dave Ziegler, Ed Dodds, Omar Khan, Monti Ossenfort should be on the Giants short list.

And please STOP with the Louis Riddick nonsense. This guy has proven nothing. He was never retained by WFT or Philly for a reason. Gets some face time on TV and now everyone thinks he is gods gift...
Question
John In CO : 11/23/2021 10:17 pm : link
What is the advantage for the organization if they were to fire Gettleman today as opposed to the end of the season? I assume Abrams would take over the GM spot for the rest of the season. Are we sure that he will continue to be part of the organization going forward? If not Abrams....do they have someone lined up to take over the spot right now????? If not, then I dont really see the advantage in making that move right now.
The OP is 100% right...
bw in dc : 11/23/2021 10:27 pm : link
But today really have been the Tuesday Massacre at Jints Central. Garrett, Graham, Gettleman, Abrams...all gone.

That would have been best message to send. Not this little fix with Garrett. Merely a crumb from the table of bigger problems...

Send a message to the league we are about to poach a bunch of talent from other organizations.
The reason why you do it sooner
Spider43 : 11/23/2021 10:51 pm : link
Is because of what happened at the trade deadline. Nothing. We should have been flat out sellers. Instead he kept on the delusion of contending, with future repercussions. We should have amassed as much draft capital as we could have amassed, if someone competent were running the show.

So we have less draft capital now. We kept some assets that might produce when nothing is on the line, and queer our draft spot in the final few games. We don't get the head start for the GM search that we could have, and some teams might beat us to that guy... even if it's Abrams, I'm saying you never know. The new guy could also get the earnest head start on team evaluation in the final few games, instead of wasting another year next season seeing if Danny Nickel has it (hint: he doesn't).

But we must get rid of Getts. Yesterday. Start flushing that rotten cancer out of the building to start clearing his stench from the halls.

Riddick campaigned for Haskins and then doubled down after his rookie season and said the team failed Haskins and didn’t support him. Haskins is a Ryan leaf type bust. That alone should preclude riddick from even getting another interview
Because Chris Mara drives the bus.

If there’s even a sliver of this idea, then this organization is beyond hopeless. No way in the world could this no talent assclown actually be promoted!
If

is for DG to be gone, and if the new GM wants a head coach capable of a better than 3-14 record.....let JJ go back and run specials for little bill. four Super Bowl wins in my lifetime is enough, but how about at least one more playoff game before us old timers check out? was great to sit with coach parcells last night in the manning cast.......and.....he has not lost a step in his incredible understanding of professional football.....

How can Mara-with a straight face-sell an internal hire to the fanbase? I have no clue the extent of Abrams role in this clusterfuck has been, but he's @ least been part of the discussions & now we're going to elevate him? GTFO with that, if that's to be the case. It'll show just how lost John is.
If you get rid of Garett
Giantimistic : 11/24/2021 7:23 am : link
The message is we have players we can win with which is pretty much what Judge said.

When you get rid of the GM you are saying we have the wrong players, coaches, etc.

That will happen but this is a last attempt to bring some life to the team and not have the players quit. The players were given an excuse.
Abrams has essentially been an assistant GM
Simms11 : 11/24/2021 8:18 am : link
for almost 20 years now, what makes anyone think that they would now make him GM at seasons end, pending Gettleman’s departure?! I think he’ll possibly get another opportunity to interview, but I can almost assure you the Giants will search high and low for a new GM. This is a HUGE decision. Like the Judge decision, I believe the next GM will most likely be someone from outside the organization.

This is correct. There were also reports a few weeks ago about them secretly looking at possible GM candidates. Mara is smart enough to know that promoting Abrams will be seen as no different than extending DG. We also saw in the Judge hiring every indication outside voices from winning organizations are needed. They may pick the wrong guy, but there will be a new GM and he will have a experience from a winning program. I get why people are skeptical but that is how it will play out. Bank on it.

Uber, I tend to think so as well regarding bringing in an outside professional.

A decade of losing like they have experienced and then go and promote an Abrams who has been part of those poorly executed plans?. That is either brave or stupid, maybe both!
