After seeing Mike Evans eat our lunch all night ....

Manny in CA : 11/23/2021 11:20 pm

I can't help but beat the dead horse again - Evan Engram is not a tight end, he's a RECEIVER.

Seemed like Tom Brady's go-to in key situations by either finding Evans in space with accurate passes or great ball positioning where he could shield the ball with his big body.

Other than the horrid pass pro play by our O-line, that is a big problem with our offense.

I guess it's not in the cards. Engram is destined to go someplace else and shine and BBI will forever hold a grudge.
Are we comparing Evans to Engram?
Thunderstruck27 : 11/23/2021 11:23 pm : link
Why?

broadbandz : 11/23/2021 11:27 pm : link
engram isnt shining anywhere. He's not good at football. The fans cant kill the giants for drafting bad players while also thinking their going to go somewhere else and play well just because they are away from ny.
seems like golden and flowers.....
thrunthrublue : 11/23/2021 11:32 pm : link
both found places, with Arizona and WFT.... to flourish......maybe, it is possibly a failed giants GM who is responsible for these ten years of smelly diaper quality results. FIRE DG.
Engram
darren in pdx : 11/23/2021 11:48 pm : link
is false hope and has been for years. I don't doubt he'd have better numbers in a functioning offense, but I think he'd still be a coach killer due to his lack of instincts.

As for Golden, he's a complementary piece, not the guy. He had something like 9 sacks here and the consensus was to ship him out because his game is limited.

Flowers refused to play guard for the Giants, we'll never know if he would have been serviceable at guard for the Giants. The bridge was already burned.
Engrams does not have the agility of a WR
sb from NYT Forum : 11/24/2021 12:49 am : link
...that's why he roided up and became a TE.

He was a 210 lb. WR when he was a freshman at Ole Miss.
Have you seen engram break his routes?
bLiTz 2k : 11/24/2021 4:36 am : link
This conversation is so tiresome. He does not have the short space moves or agility to play that position. And he has horrible hands...you want to move him to the position where you need both of those attributes?

It's amazing, out for all the things to bitch about this season, this is like issue #1000 on the list.

Forget about Engram...how about Golladay seeing single coverage all night (trust me I was there), with zero safety help and the team not giving him a chance at all?
Manny... WTF are you smoking???
EricJ : 11/24/2021 6:29 am : link
Engram cannot catch
Engram cannot run routes
Engram cannot read a defense to find open spaces in a zone

What the fuck are you talking about?

Come on man. That's a little harsh..

Engram is really good at dropping balls he should catch! He's also really good at surprising by catching other balls that he has no business catching based on the dropped easy ones...

christian : 11/24/2021 7:20 am : link
A huge part of Evan’s game is posting up. This something Engram can develop.

Not sure if serious. If you are your one patient human being. He can develop this by when? Year 9?
Mike Evans is a football player and
Jimmy Googs : 11/24/2021 8:06 am : link
the other guy isn't...
Engram has actually been
section125 : 11/24/2021 8:06 am : link
decent when thrown to this year. But correct, he is fast, but not agile. They have Kenny Golladay to do what Evans does, if the dumbass OC would design plays to get him the ball.

The Giants have good WRs, but no chance for the QB to get the ball to them.
Engram can’t catch the football
Dave in PA : 11/24/2021 8:06 am : link
So he’s not a receiver. He can’t block either so he’s not a TE. Maybe if they hand the ball to him he’s be more successful?
Mike Evans
mittenedman : 11/24/2021 8:08 am : link
is much taller than Evan Engram. Completely different skillsets.
Giantimistic is right, though.
mittenedman : 11/24/2021 8:10 am : link
Golladay can be used like Evans when they get in the red zone.

Hopefully the lack of fades and post-up balls to your $18M red zone threat is part of the reason Garrett was fired.

Gotta get ROI on capital, just like any other business.

Mike Evans is not the surest handed receiver, either.
Mike Evans in the thread title -------> Evan Engram in the post

Thats an M. Night Shyamalan twist if I ever saw one
That interception off of Evans was very Engram like.
St. Jimmy : 11/24/2021 8:33 am : link
He does something like that at least 3 or 4 times a season.

I think Evans had a 3 TD game this season. That's more than one season's worth of scoring for Engram.
Come on Manny, Engram is in now way
Section331 : 11/24/2021 10:46 am : link
comparable to Evans. I'm not an EE hater, but he does not have the change of direction skills necessary to play outside on a regular basis. Great inline speed, but how is he going to beat CB's outside?

That doesn't mean I don't think he's been misused. He was drafted based on the seam routes he ran at Ole Miss, so that he could help Eli beat all the cover 2 he was seeing. Shurmur, for all of his faults, knew how to use EE that way, but Garrett refused to, and had him running 5 yd hitch routes. I hope at the very least that Kitchens will use EE more down the seams

Helps to have Tom Brady throwing to you all game in an excellent offense, wouldn't you say?

Don't care how many TD Evans gets. Evans gets several chances per game. How many did Engram get this year?

Don't put me in a position to defend Engram, but also don't tell us that Engram gets the same chances as Evans.
#1 - Evans is 6'5", Engram 6"3"
Manny in CA : 11/24/2021 2:45 pm : link

"Much taller" - Don't think so.

Galladay - He's a different cat; stylistically he long, lean and mean. He's Michael Irvin; plus we're giving him that kind of money and unfortunately getting a disgruntled, expensive potted plant.

If Freddie Kitchens doesn't use Engram right, he's a gonner and will be a Pro Bowler again, for some other team in 2022.

Not saying engrams misuse isn't a crime, but comparing him to Mike Evans is utterly absurd.
Engram is not a TE
Bill in UT : 11/24/2021 8:54 pm : link
He is also not a WR. He is just a waste of a roster space

I mean this whole comparison is stupud to begin with. Evans made pro bowls and had productive seasons long before Brady got there.

You don't care about scoring touchdowns? I guess this is the outcome of having such an unproductive offense for so long.

Let's face it, and it's a given Engram is trash but Evans is going to get better chances because he is a better target obviously and I'm just saying ... Evans drops are more forgivable because at his position he actually provides use.

Also Engram has played so many games here (and thanks to all the injuries) that he's sadly been the best threat on the field for years.
